I think this is an interesting part in all of this. And shows the delusions surrounding the giants.
Garett was a long time head coach and had a good amount of success just not in the playoffs. He gets canned but doesn't take time off.
Most likely he is trying to find his way back into a head coaching gig fast.
He sees the state of the giants offence, young QB young great RB and he thinks yeah I'll do well there and build back my chance at being a head coach.
Obviously what he didn't see is that the offensive personnel was just not good enough to perform(and he was not very good either).
My point being it shows people on the staff clearly over evaluate how good the giants are personnel wise for the last 2 years.
Garett coming here was a terrible decision for his career.
and just want to add that Jason Garrett was undone by an offensive line that's as bad as it gets in the NFL due to injuries, retirements and Dave Gettleman.
Why shouldn't he have taken the job?

Not getting the OL stabilized has gotten a whole lot of people in the Giant organization fired over the past decade.
and more to come...
You're welcome.
JG's just the most prolific name to get his name sullied.

What was his excuse in Dallas and why did they remove him from play calling duties?

A lotta people are down on his Dallas tenure, but he did have a career record of 85 - 67, which looks pretty damn good to any Giants fan.
I doubt he would have taken an OC job with the Bengals - just for example.
Yeah, except the Jets part.
For Garrett, it was an opportunity to reunite with an former team and start to rebuild his reputation as a HC candidate.
