if you could vote, who do you think should get in?
Lots of very
section125 : 11/24/2021 1:32 pm : link
good football players in that lineup. I wouldn't even try to pick out 1/2 dozen.
...
SFGFNCGiantsFan : 11/24/2021 1:33 pm : link
Eddie George wasn't better than Tiki.
I look at that list
JoeFootball : 11/24/2021 1:35 pm : link
and think that Carl Banks would be in the top 6 if he were included.
For who? For what?
RCPhoenix : 11/24/2021 1:42 pm : link
He's not getting into the HOF.
Seymour, Ware, Wilfork, Willis
JonC : 11/24/2021 1:45 pm : link
others will get in, perhaps not right away.
a lot of very good football players there, but I don't see that many
Tom from LI : 11/24/2021 1:46 pm : link
Hall of Famers..

you could make the argument
Enzo : 11/24/2021 1:55 pm : link
every WR on that list deserves to get in.

Boldin, Wayne, Andrew Johnson, and Steve Smith currently rank 9-12 on the all time receptions list. And Hines Ward is 14th. And when Torry Holt retired, he was in the top 10.
Tony Boselli
jtfuoco : 11/24/2021 3:29 pm : link
only played 7 seasons? I though for sure he was in the league longer then that

Really it was only 6 seasons, but he was first team all pro in 3 of them. Basically the Terrell Davis of offensive linemen.
Boselli and Reggie Wayne
cjac : 11/24/2021 3:35 pm : link
for sure
A lot of very good players on that list
Jimmy Googs : 11/24/2021 3:56 pm : link
but not so many slam-dunks.

Demarcus Ware, Richard Seymour, Patrick Willis should be slam dunks. Zach Thomas is pretty close too and most underestimated of bunch.

Of the rest maybe 2-3 names eventually get in...
Reggie Wayne
Mike from SI : 11/24/2021 4:02 pm : link
is also a slam dunk for me.
to me
Enzo : 11/24/2021 4:07 pm : link
Jared Allen is an easy "yes"

Yeah, probably right Mike.

He had very good longevity, and consistent as hell every year. Super Bowl winner. Would like to see more All-Pro team credentials but very hard to make that as a WR.
Ware and Seymour would be my 2 locks personally
Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 11/24/2021 4:21 pm : link
Ware was arguably the best 34 OLB since LT. He's at the very least in the discussion. Seymour was the best defensive player on a defense-first Dynasty and was one of the best 34 DE in recent history.

Thomas didn't reach the heights of Lewis or Urlacher, but he was a HOFer imo.

Willis and Boselli were both clearly HOF players when you saw them on the field, but longevity makes them interesting cases.

Jared Allen was a sack machine, he should eventually get in. Butler was better than Lynch who just got in, hopefully he makes it eventually.

The WR logjam is going to be a yearly thing moving forward now that the modern era fantasy football stats WRs are eligbile. It's probably Holt's turn to get in, but Andre Johnson was the best WR on that list imo.

I know he was crazy and he probably won't get in, but Steve Smith is a guy who is underrated if you just looked at his stats. There's no question in my mind that Smith was a better WR than Holt/Wayne who will get in before him. Put Smith on the GSOT Rams or with Peyton, and he would have been a legend.
Eddie George?
widmerseyebrow : 11/24/2021 4:23 pm : link
yuck
Seymour, Ware, Wilfork stick out for me
widmerseyebrow : 11/24/2021 4:28 pm : link
Boselli and Willis could belong in a dominating, but relatively short career category.

Willie Anderson and Eric Allen were excellent but are getting passed over.
It would be refreshing...
bw in dc : 11/24/2021 4:35 pm : link
if a specialist like Steve Tasker made it. He was a great special teams player.

Same could be said about Hester.
Patrick Willis was taken #11 in 2007 out of Ole Miss
Jimmy Googs : 11/24/2021 4:45 pm : link
and was dominating from the moment he stepped on the field, making 1st or 2nd team All-Pro every year for years until injuries caught up with him.

He retired a bit early but he was simply a monster at LB.

One of my favorite players in the entire NFL when he played and someone you just wished was on the Giants...

Hester deserves it
Mike from SI : 11/24/2021 5:02 pm : link
in my opinion. Maybe not first ballot, but he's the best ever at his position. (And likewise I would like Ray Guy and Feagles to get in, and some ST aces like Tasker.)

When that guy tackled people they just went straight fucking down. No RBs were picking up YAC off Patrick Willis. I wish they had a reverse YAC stat for linebackers. He and LT would be 0.0.

Yeah, I love Sam Mills and think he was close to a HOF-level LB, but then you look at Willis and it's a different level of player entirely.

Agreed. Hester was unreal and the best to ever do it. The impact he had on the kicking game cannot be understated.
Tony Boselli was a great player
Greg from LI : 11/26/2021 1:59 am : link
But if longevity keeps Mark Bavaro out, then why doesn't it matter for everyone else, too?
