Boldin, Wayne, Andrew Johnson, and Steve Smith currently rank 9-12 on the all time receptions list. And Hines Ward is 14th. And when Torry Holt retired, he was in the top 10.
Really it was only 6 seasons, but he was first team all pro in 3 of them. Basically the Terrell Davis of offensive linemen.
Demarcus Ware, Richard Seymour, Patrick Willis should be slam dunks. Zach Thomas is pretty close too and most underestimated of bunch.
Of the rest maybe 2-3 names eventually get in...
Yeah, probably right Mike.
He had very good longevity, and consistent as hell every year. Super Bowl winner. Would like to see more All-Pro team credentials but very hard to make that as a WR.
Thomas didn't reach the heights of Lewis or Urlacher, but he was a HOFer imo.
Willis and Boselli were both clearly HOF players when you saw them on the field, but longevity makes them interesting cases.
Jared Allen was a sack machine, he should eventually get in. Butler was better than Lynch who just got in, hopefully he makes it eventually.
The WR logjam is going to be a yearly thing moving forward now that the modern era fantasy football stats WRs are eligbile. It's probably Holt's turn to get in, but Andre Johnson was the best WR on that list imo.
I know he was crazy and he probably won't get in, but Steve Smith is a guy who is underrated if you just looked at his stats. There's no question in my mind that Smith was a better WR than Holt/Wayne who will get in before him. Put Smith on the GSOT Rams or with Peyton, and he would have been a legend.
Willie Anderson and Eric Allen were excellent but are getting passed over.
Same could be said about Hester.
He retired a bit early but he was simply a monster at LB.
One of my favorite players in the entire NFL when he played and someone you just wished was on the Giants...

When that guy tackled people they just went straight fucking down. No RBs were picking up YAC off Patrick Willis. I wish they had a reverse YAC stat for linebackers. He and LT would be 0.0.

Yeah, I love Sam Mills and think he was close to a HOF-level LB, but then you look at Willis and it's a different level of player entirely.
Agreed. Hester was unreal and the best to ever do it. The impact he had on the kicking game cannot be understated.
