Who are you bringin back next year

Debaser : 11/24/2021 1:47 pm
... who do you have have to bring back?

So on offense -- basically Toney and Booker and Thomas. I guess Slayton? Rudolph I guess ?

Golladay with that contract is gone; Barkely gone; Jones gone.

On Defense maybe McKinney and Oju. There has to be more some of the younger guys are coming back . Do we really have to pay Breadberry is the question. And what to do about Dex . he is a jog to me but what do I know & gt; I can't look up all these contracts...

Joey time outs gone too
There’s no point in cutting people just for the sake of it
Metnut : 11/24/2021 1:49 pm : link
My understanding is that given the contracts Gettleman has handed out, and our cap situation, this same team is mostly locked in next year.

I’d imagine Hernandez, Engram, Peppers and Solder all won’t be back. It’ll be hard to find cap room to add much of substance this off-season.

Cant just cut people like golladay because you dont like his contract lol. The consequences would outweigh having him on the team.

I didn't think they all had guaranteed money except Leonard

TO be honest I don't mind having Golladay back but playing with a differet QB. I just figured as long as you were rebuilding....Well then you are trading for picks then.

This sucks so basically Gettle traded away Reese jags for Gettle jags
appropriate thread at this point
I Love Clams Casino : 11/24/2021 2:06 pm : link
sad, but appropriate....always planning for "next year" because the season is over so quickly.

Here we go again.

What would have you said last year, if I told you at game 10, this thread was out there?

Well I am saying it now. Next year at week 10, we will be seeing the same thread...."who are we keeping?"

Sad, sad state of affairs. smh

Not to hard to look it up at Over the Cap if you really wanted to do so.
NYG Cap situation - ( New Window )
How would Barkley or Golladay be gone?
Big Blue Blogger : 11/24/2021 2:22 pm : link
He's guaranteed $7MM on his Year Five option. He'll most likely be back, and the hope is that he'll regain his prior form in his second post-surgery season.

Golladay is locked in through 2022. Most of his 2022 salary is
guaranteed.
Golladay
jeff57 : 11/24/2021 2:37 pm : link
The dead money hit from cutting him is probably astronomical
I don't mind Golladay
Debaser : 11/24/2021 2:41 pm : link
More than anything I want Mara to get this brain fart out of his head that jones and Barkley are going to be Giants forever ; be the face of this franchise; and be back next year instead of being cut since they are not NFL level players.
Trade barkley for whatever if that is the case
Debaser : 11/24/2021 2:42 pm : link
and move on

Yes, the cap hit from cutting him would be $2 million more than keeping him.

If Barkley looks good over the next few games what you say could make him attractive to a trade partner.
Saquon is as likely to wear down in December as he is to improve.
Big Blue Blogger : 11/24/2021 3:08 pm : link
First year post-ACL is rough, especially since he has been battling other injuries. With $7MM guaranteed, his trade value will likely be a bag of chips and a six pack of cheap beer.

It makes sense for the Giants to keep Barkley, because there's no downside. If 2022 Saquon looks the same as 2021 Saquon, they can release him next fall and let him seek a new team.

Pragmatically — I hope the Giants slowly ease Barkley in and he has a strong final month. That ups the chances the Giants can recoup a 3rd round pick from a team ready to contend in 2022.
A few thoughts
Matt M. : 11/24/2021 4:23 pm : link
1) Given their cap woes, even a small gap between keeping him and cutting him is a big deal to me with Golladay. I'd say more likely than not, he's still here.

2) It's sad but in a #2 and #6 pick, the Giants have almost no value in trying to trade Barkley and Jones.

3) I'd be done with Slayton

4) I'd also be done with Shepard, but his hit may be too big.

5) 3/5 of the OL should be gone and the 4th, in Peart, shouldn't be guaranteed anything other than a chance to compete.

6) The reality is, if it was possible to replace everyone and still plug other holes in 1 offseason, I'd say at least 8 or 9 guys in regular roles should be gone from the offense.

well thought out...
so basically
Debaser : 11/24/2021 4:43 pm : link
So if I am reading this correctly -- you have to bring back these over paid scrubs?
Thomas, Toney, McKinney, Love,
Section331 : 11/24/2021 4:50 pm : link
Ojulari, Roche, Holmes, that’s about it.
there are very few keepers
GiantsFan84 : 11/24/2021 5:14 pm : link
offense - thomas and toney
defense - the most recent draft class and mckinney

everyone else on the team i'd make available for trade and get whatever draft picks i can

what i will think they will do. bring back judge with a win now mandate and a new GM. restructure LW and cut solder, dixon and rudolph to create cap space. draft heavily on the offensive line and "go for it" next year.

High school. I know even less about operations in that sport.

So obvious what I’m seeing not to mention the obvious losing

You really need to study his the salary cap works. Mismanagement has locked the giants into huge guarantees for a number of players. The malpractice here is enormous.
Galladay isn’t the problem
djm : 11/25/2021 10:16 am : link
He’s been good his entire career. He got hurt then got saddled with a gun shy qb afraid to throw the ball downfield. He’s not getting cut.

A lot of the players here are fine.
whoever's on their 1st contract and whoever finishes the year strong
Eric on Li : 11/25/2021 10:26 am : link
they have like 10+ draft picks so there will be plenty of turnover like most offseasons. Probably about half of the 53.
Peart and Golladay
Bob in Newburgh : 11/25/2021 11:06 am : link
Stupid not to bring Peart to camp. He is only entering year 3 of a late 3rd rd contract. Salary is not guaranteed, and the remaining unamortized bonus amounts to a petty cash cap hit if cut to get final 53.

Golladay (if healthy) will be fine if you run longer developing linear type plays, or slants. His body and his catch radius are what makes him open, not quick precision routes. He actually has very good long speed, but it is the build-up speed of a long strider. I believe he actually is a bigger total cap hit if cut than he is being on the roster.

No I really don't. If that makes me a bad bbi person and an excuse to call me childish names so be it. I have better things to do than study what a loser GM did to this franchise and how bad of a shit show it is.

I'm a joke?
Debaser : 11/25/2021 11:45 am : link
Why because I tell the truth about Jones and am not rah rah over this team that is a losing team?

Or because I suggest benching Jones and Barkley ?

How many legends have gotten benched for poor play in favor of back ups only to return to form after having a slump of 3-4 games. Joe Montana for Steve Young. Drew Brees for Doug Floutie Simms was too. Darnold (not saying he is a legend). But struggling QBs get benched. Never was's especially get benched and that is what jones is a never was
So why root for losses
Debaser : 11/25/2021 6:18 pm : link
Even if gettle is fires retired whatever if were capped out and all these guys have guaranteed money?
