Solder

Looking for some clarification on Nate. I hear a lot of people saying that he will be off the team next year which would be more than fine by me however when I look on OTC it shows he has a $4 million salary and a 4 million dead cat hit if he is cut. Even as bad as he is doesn't make sense to cut him if that is the case. Am I missing something?
Nope your not missing anything…

…$4,000,000 either way.
I say still dump him because he’s eating up a roster spot where hopefully we can develop young talent.
He’s been on the decline for three years; I don’t see him getting better.
His COntract

Voids in 2022. He counts $4 Million against the cap as a proration of original signing bonus. He is a FA at year end.
Ok

He doesnt retire he is beyond delusional. That guy should pay the giants back some of his millions, just to make amends for what hes done.
You’re misreading the OTC info

For Solder 2022 is a void year. He has a $4m dead cap hit but no salary. So he costs $4m in dead money but isn’t under contract.

The Giants should have cut Solder outright before the season and designated him as a June 1 cut.

I cannot believe they gave him $3M to play this year.

There was always going to be 10.5M in bonus money against the cap. They should have kept the 6.5M in dead money this year, and the 4M next year and walked away.
Actually a good move

They could have cut him and taken the Full cap hit this year, and in addition would have had to sign someone else for approximately $3-5 million.

So by reducing his salary to $3 million, they actually saved money by not having to hire a replacement.

Whether he was good or bad at right tackle is another story!

You should apply for a job in the NY Giant Front Office.

The guys there think just like you and you would all get along great...
