is a very good college offensive coach. His problem with the Gators was recruiting. Generally his offenses are not pro style though. The exception was last year when Trask lit it up with all the stud receivers.
this fall (40-17 loss vs. Gamecocks) & lose UGLY wins (Giving up 52 to Samford), he didn't give a damn about recruiting & wasn't shy in expressing that belief publicly. Not smart Dan, not smart.

Judge has also said they will not be bringing anyone in. Keep in mind, Kitchens is who Judge has wanted to be the OC.
Is he? I thought I remember reading that he originally wanted Joe Brady and the team went with Garrett? Or was that an unfound rumour?
There was some talk that Wink was bringing Joe Brady in as OC if he got the job. Judge wanted to interview Daboll for OC, however, the Bills blocked the move. Kitchens was also in the mix, two guys Judge was familiar with. The media has talked about it a lot recently but I've mentioned a few times over the years that Jason was recommended by the Mara's. Hard to say no to your new boss's recommendation but I also think Judge went with it in part because of Jason's relationship with Belichick. The two are very close.
is a terrific offensive mind. If he could recruit as well as he designs offenses, he would consistently have had his teams in the top five.
There is absolutely no reason that UF should not be a top 3 recruiter every year. None. UF should be fighting Alabama and Georgia very year in the SEC with a good coach that gives a shit.
Bet FSU kicks their ass this week, they shouldn't.
In theory, FSU, Miami, & UF should be dominant programs year in, year out. Florida is a gold mine in terms of high school talent. And yet all them suck currently.
Bama and especially UGA just are dominating FL right now in terms of recruiting.

I hear you. It's just not a strength of Mullen's. He's more of a developer.

The way I read both of you guys posts is that Mullens is a coach first. He’s not a salesman. Which I have to be honest, is appealing to me. He tries to win with game planning. In college that’s pretty crazy to hear. It’s mainly about what talent you can woo to your school. Which personally I think was all done be under the table bribes, such as family members receiving jobs, cars, jewelry, etc. With the new name and likeness options for the players, I’m hoping this changes college ball for good.
How great would it be to have teams from all across the land compete for the title? Schools we haven’t heard of in decades. Heck I remember when Colorado had some good programs. Would be nice to see those days come back. Could make college ball entertaining to me again after nearly 30 years of not caring who recruited ALL the talent to their school year in and year out.
But back to the point, if Judge survives and gets another year, this guy sounds like the type of coach I’d want on the staff. Hell, he sounds like the mold of a good NFL HC. Trying to win with lesser talent, who would’ve imagined that mindset as a coach?!?!
Their time there didn't overlap. Feels like a lazy "rumor" to me.

So it's not an obvious NFL fit like Joe Brady was

Has ties to Judge from Miss State right?

I assumed they were talking about 2022.

I wouldn't assume Judge will be back at this point.

Alls Kitchen's has to do is show some progress in the last 7 games (which happens to be against lesser opponents) and the job is his.
Unless he just wants to be removed from the college game not sure why he would want a OC in the NFL.
