Dilemma of the Septuagenarian Giants Fan,

clatterbuck : 11/26/2021 2:19 pm
I remember the 56 championship, getting robbed in 58, the Glory Years, the Tarkenton years, the 15 years of... and the Fumble, the return to relevance, dominance, Parcells SBs, the Eli/Coughlin SBs. I'm afraid the next time the Giants win a championship, my kids and grandkids will point to the sky and say, "This one's for you, Dad."
I feel the same way, and that’s the way I felt after XLVI after

My Dad died the year before.
I watched my first Giants game in my grandfathers living room

will see the Giants get to at least two more SBs. Fortunately, I am in pretty good health for being in my mid '80s. Things can turnaround almost over night in today's NFL.
I'm with you, clatterbuck, except

a "dilemma" means having a choice. This seems to be our fate. What can we do about it?
Rapidly approaching sell by date.

Holding out hope of possibly making it to a winning season.
Just be thankful that they'll be pointing to the sky

Right there with you Boca
I'm 74....fan since 56

I hope they can straighten this ship soon...who knows how many seasons we have left

I'm hoping we can lure Wilson over here for Tarkenton Take2

I like Danny but he needs a few more years and I want to win now- look how Brady turned Tampa around in one season

We have some talent on this team...with Wilson we might just be a 5-6 players away
Just hoping I don't have to wait til I'm an octogenarian

I’d agree with you son

But I can’t remember what the question was
Also fan since '56

The one thing us septs have is patience. If they came every year there wouldn't be as much excitement with each. The feeling of euphoria in '87 and '08 was more special than '91 and '12, so I can't wait for the next one. Hopefully it's not 20 years between, but somewhere around 12 would be just fine, God willing...only wish my dad had hung around another year. He died in '85 at age 67.

Wouldn't mind a Yanks WS either. Been way too long. Is it too much to ask for an old school quadrafecta? Gmen, Yanks, Knicks & Rangers in the same year? Yeah, probably.

Maybe we'll hear from Fiddy on this one. I'm quite sure that the "BB56" is significant.
I really don't understand
PakistanPete : 11/26/2021 3:37 pm : link
this attitude from older Giants fans on BBI.

I know it sucks right now, but you guys have lived through a pre-Super Bowl championship and four Super Bowls, some of which are in discussion for top SBs of all time.

Maybe I'll change my tune in 20 years, but a lot of NFL fan bases have it a lot worse.

Enjoy your holiday weekend!
I attended my first Giants game in 1937.at the Polo Grounds.

Didn't get to another until the '56 stomping of the Bears for
the Championship at Yankee Stadium. Got to see an occasional game due to friends with season tickets.
Finally got my own season tickets at Giant stadium just in time to see probably the worst era in Giants history. Had to give them up just as they were getting good again.
Alas! Woe is me!. At 97 my chances of seeing a repeat of the Parcells or Coughlin years are very slim.
Forgot to mention

was at "The Greatest Game Ever" when Giants lost to the
Johnny Unitas Colts. Also was at "The Fumble" Game.
Disliked the Eagles more than the Cowboys. Had great respect for Tom Landry and Vince Lombardi, onetime Giant Player/Coaches.

You're right, more like a lament than a dilemma.

late 1940’s I have seen good football and awful games. Unfortunately Monday nights debacle was right up there with some of the worst I have seen from my Giants, and with cap hell upon us I don’t expect another winning season let alone championship in my life time.

So I will watch another rebuild, see how it’s done, and perhaps see some success. I am not going to guess or speculate how it will happen or who will lead the way. But i’ll be watching and rooting for the good guys as they try to put together a front office, a coaching staff and a team.

It promises to be interesting but I doubt I will see it’s completion. I will have to be happy with the process, and no more Monday night horrors. Carpoon, I wish you the best as I remember lifting a few with you in the bar in Albany. Be well to you and all us old time, long time, Giant fans.

Go Blue, right the ship, and catch a fair wind and conquer the waves and storms ahead. But also thank you for some terrific football and 5 championships in my lifetime.
Eh…

Who knows how long any of us has? I’m glad that I saw LT and Eli. These days suck for sure, but think of how the Jets must feel?
sorry

but this isn’t like being a red sox fan in the 20th century. i’m 46 and have accepted giants may not ever return to their former heights. very good possibility. Not to sound rude but giants fans who have seen multiple era of championships are generally amongst most fortunate fans.

Dad took me to my first game in 1942 and it has been a great run, however, we are not done yet in my lifetime.

Plato, yes I remember you well in Albany. Great memories from the Albany camp.

I do not think we will see another Championship as long as John Mara and Tisch own the team.

+1
My candidate for my all time Giants player is
Batenhorst7 : 11/27/2021 9:36 am : link
JOE MORRISON. He opitimized what it meant to be a Giants player

Joe was made of iron and could play just about any skill position on the field

They don't make them like Joe anymore

I liked Jack Stroud too, and Rosie Brown

John Mendenhall....Wow

Jack Gregory

of course LT and Phil Simms

Yes Don and Grunningm and aiming for 100.
If I make 100 I'll aim for 110 and hope to see another
NYG Championship.
