Don't know if this has been floated on BBI...I've seen him be wrong, but he strikes me as pretty sharp and has been on target quite a bit in his evaluations. If such a thing could be entertained, what do you think?
OK, I laughed. But I don't think it's the same. Simms is an open Giant fan, former player with insight with obvious ties. That aside, if I believed in Mel Kiper (I don't) and would entertain such a thing - why not? The idea I thought was to be outside the box, but with sharp football minds. Simms strikes me as that.

With regards to him being a Giants fan, Chris Simms is also an admitted Cowboys fan. But regardless of that since being a fan of either isn't really relative. I don't see any evidence that would indicate he is capable of intermediately stepping into being the GM of an NFL team.
Seems like more of a candidate for Chris Mara’s job than Gettleman’s.
I remember hearing him in the past talk about it more than once.
I found this old interview where he explains it.
Quote:
Chris Simms, the one-time Texas Longhorns quarterback from New Jersey whose father, Phil, is a one-time New York Giants Super Bowl-winning quarterback, became a big-time Cowboys fan after his dad retired from the NFL before the 1994 season.
Move over, fellow Jersey guy Chris Christie, Chris Simms still roots for the Cowboys over the Giants.
He also played for the Longhorns from 1999-2002 and went on to play seven NFL seasons.
Since retiring from playing, he has been a broadcaster for Fox and CBS before moving to NBC, where he now works in the network's Notre Dame football studio. He also serves as a NFL savant for Turner's Bleacher Report.
Earlier this week, he was a guest on The Dallas Morning News' Ballzy Podcast co-hosted by Kevin Sherrington and me. When you listen to the podcast, you'll even hear his impersonation of his dad, whom you have all heard on CBS' NFL coverage.
Here's Chris Simms, who described himself as a "crazy Jersey guy but at least you know I'm going to shoot you straight" on ...
Why he roots for the Cowboys:
Simms: Of course, I grew up a Giants fan. My dad was the quarterback. But when my dad retired I jumped on the Cowboys bandwagon hard. I loved Troy Aikman...When I was a 13-year old boy, my dad went to the Pro Bowl and then he got cut by the New York Giants. He was the first major salary cap casualty in the history of the NFL. So I was a little bitter at the Giants as you can imagine. When my dad retired, (Aikman) kind of filled that void for me. On Sunday afternoons I'd watch No. 8 wheel and deal and from that point on I became a Cowboys fan. I root for the Cowboys over the Giants to this day. I'm very close to Jason Garrett. We've been together many times. He was down in Tampa with me one year.
Simms tends to get a lot of hate for going against the tide with his quarterback rankings, but he's had pretty good hit rate so far. Plus he never lets other scouts' opinions sway him and his evaluations. Here are his QB prospect rankings:
2018
1. Lamar Jackson
2. Josh Allen
3. Baker Mayfield
4. Sam Darnold
5. Josh Rosen
2019
1. Kyler Murray
2. Drew Lock
3. Dwayne Haskins
4. Ryan Finley
5. Jarrett Stidham
6. Daniel Jones
7. Clayton Thorson
8. Will Grier
2020
1. Joe Burrow
2. Justin Herbert
3. Jordan Love
4. Tua Tagovailoa
He didn't make the QB prospect ranking video for the 2017 draft class, but while he was at Bleacher Report he had came out to say that Patrick Mahomes Is 2017 NFL Draft's Most Special QB Talent
I think his track record speaks for itself. He's got a really good eye for QB talents and a team looking for a quarterback in the upcoming draft should really take his opinions under consideration." Link - ( New Window )
Excluding Kyler Murray, the 2019 QB was not very good

That's fair, and I like Chris too and also value his opinion on many of these topics. So, I would prefer to hire him as a consultant to help with our QB evaluation.
How about we hire football professionals not TV personalities
Mayock and Lynch are arguably successful GMs. You kind of know what you're getting since their analysis are out in the public. Some insider like Abrams you really have very little idea of what they're about, could just be another Mara golden boy, BS like that happens often in business.

Or how about the Manning Brothers? Or the Smothers Brothers? Or the Brothers Karamazov?
Where did you say the fish was caught?
I know this is like the football pundit job or are we serious about turning this shop around.
I feel like this is what the NFL (and the Giants in particular) consistently get wrong.
I like Chris Simms a lot... but no... pass...
We do not need a talent evaluator. We need someone who knows how to run an organization.
maybe abbot and costello?
How many years running has this guy said Brady wasn’t good anymore? Sure great eye for QB talent….
