That was the beginning of the Bum Phillips D legend. He changed them from a 4-3 to a 3-4, and traded Matuszak (I think) for Culp. Culp was dominant in a 3-4.
Those Chiefs teams of the late 60'3 early 70's were must watch TV for me as a young lad. Curley Culp, Buck Buchanan, Willie Lanier, Bobby Bell and Emmitt Thomas - what a loaded D.
