I am traveling to Denver this week for my son’s wedding. I am considering renting a car but I am well aware of the current situation. I noticed Fox Car Rental as an option. They are much cheaper which makes me suspicious.
Has anyone had any experience with this company?
Thank you.
for example I am Hertz gold and National Emerald Club, etc.
being in these programs and if you have rented from them ever, usually you don't even talk to a rep at the airport, you just go from the plane (maybe baggage claim) and then to the lot and get in your car and drive away.
I mention that for the reason mentioned above: fewer staff and longer lines at rental car kiosks (some times 2+ hours in line waiting for paperwork on a car you have already reserved). Sometimes paying a few more dollars more is worth it.
Plus with programs like that they sometimes have a "take any car on the lot" policy.
Also. If you have credit card points u can use them. Good luck
I got what I paid for... that is to say, the car (Mitsubishi Outlander at "small AWD SUV" rate) was clean, functional and met my needs. But there are some things to be aware of when renting from Fox at DEN:
- All car rentals at DEN are some distance from the terminal, but Fox is in a warehouse/industrial park building separate from all of the other agencies on East 78th Ave. It's not much farther away, but in a slightly different location. Keep that in mind when returning
- Shuttles are less frequent than the other companies, and smaller. Most other agencies use full-size buses with ample luggage space; Fox uses jitney style minibuses, so they get full faster and there are often lines. Same thing on the return. If you're with a group, or checking a lot of bags, it's worth sending one member of your party to get the car, then returning to the terminal to get the others and the luggage. I was strapped for time on my return so instead of waiting, I just called an Uber (~$12) and still came out way ahead.
- Fox's clientele skiews generally younger and leisure-oriented. Many are infrequent renters using debit cards, so each step of the process (debit card hold, loss/damage waiver, insurance, fuel purchase, directions, etc.) needs to be explained and talked-through. Fox does not offer an expedited pick-up service so be prepared to wait a while once you get to their facility as a result. NB: use a credit, not debit card. People were reasonably friendly.
The verdict is I would use Fox again, but the savings needs to be substantial (>20% as it was in my case) than the larger agencies. Decent cars, friendly service, but everything just takes longer than the Hertz, Avis or Nationals of the world.
Below is one of my favorite sites for finding the best prices on rental cars:

Thank you. I took a look at Better Business Bureau reviews and it was not pleasant. I appreciate you sharing your experience with me and the advice you provided. Very thankful..
