then he’s likely worth it. Smartest org in baseball
Yep, that is cheap money for a starter. And the Yanks are going to replace him with ????
The guy made a grand total of 16 starts this season. You really think that’s irreplaceable? Of course you don’t. You don’t believe anything you post. Ever. If the Yanks signed him to that deal you’d be bitching about hitching their wagons to an injury prone player once again. Wash, rinse, repeat for ole HomerJones45. Not happy unless he’s bitching about something. Anything.
The problem with what you’re saying is that TB has one of the smartest organizations in the game and even better when it comes to pitching. If it was anybody else, I would understand the criticism. Not them.
That doesn't make them smart. What they did with Wander was just plain dumb. They should have waited for his first arb year to sign him to a long term deal and it probably wouldn't have cost them much more even if he is a bona fide superstar. If it turns out instead that he's a flash in the pan or he's injury prone, they're on the hook for millions.
As for Kluber, I doubt he had any other offers. At best they got themselves and injury prone slow starter. The Yankees did well to let him go.

Wander deal was flat-out robbing his family of Wander Franco's
