but you can win national titles at USC. He’ll recruit top 5 classes there and demolish the PAC12. ND/USC is about to be the best rivalry in college football again.
The school has a huge endowment, it's in Los Angeles (which is a great place to live if you have money), it has a great football tradition and a terrific home recruiting area. Traditionally, it was kind of a good-enough school for rich kids. But the administration made a decision a few years ago to make its admissions more competitive — long-term, they're aiming to compete with Stanford, though they don't have the same reputation for excellence yet.
It's a great job in some ways, but it comes with a lot of pressure and it's a rebuild.

Basically, USC is like Miami in that regard. But Riley will do really well there. I could see USC getting the top QBs in the country on a consistent basis now
With OU & TX moving to the SEC. Level.of competition just stepped up a notch.
Yes probably part of it. Chip Kelly is doing a nice job at UCLA and they have invested a lot into the program. Its been a slow process but he is making progress.
Great job and I think he strongly considers it. The college gig is a fantastic one. Virtually total control, depth and just a great atmosphere. Young enough where he can stay for twenty years if he wins.
Riley wasn’t for moving to the SEC. asked OU to match the offer, they declined. Felt his style was a bit soft for the SEC.
This was a smart move for him. OU is apparently also talking to Heupel at Tennessee who played there. Eh. This is a crucial moment for their program, i think you need a bigger name.
But the Old Guard is hell bent on destroying their plan and if necessary, destroying the football program and athletic department for years if they lose power.
Is another conference too top heavy. I don’t understand the colleges that don’t put the resources in . Exposure, increased enrollment and tuition and just a better college experience.
I bet Alabama has raised tuition and gets a lot more out of state enrollment since Saban . Same for Clemson.
the ACC is currently a one team conference. At the moment its Clemson, in the past its been FSU.
The problem now is the cost to be competitive at the highest levels of CFB now is so high that outside of 10-15 schools at the most can really commit to playing for titles.
But the Old Guard is hell bent on destroying their plan and if necessary, destroying the football program and athletic department for years if they lose power.
Sad to see Miami in its current state. CFB is way better when Miami and the other Florida schools (Seminoles and Gators) are relevant
It is stunning to see how bad the Florida schools have seen
Not really stunning, imo. It’s got to be an epic chore to convince the top recruits, many from the South to go to school and play football in Nebraska.
Thanks. He is going to be a good one for them. I would take him for the Giants in a heartbeat.
No doubt as his offensive coordinator.
It's a great job in some ways, but it comes with a lot of pressure and it's a rebuild.
Not if he steals all of the southern Cal players who’re currently committed to Oklahoma.
I’m shocked he would leave with a young QB like Williams though.

They have a real good QB who has played 3 games. They always have WR talent
They get a few OL to stay in area they will be back. A competent coach gets them back quick

Great hire by USC.
Great hire by USC.
Yeah. As ND fan...hate this. He will do well there. Fuck.

Notre Dame's future strength of schedule just increased, I guess. They need a good USC to make their schedule worthy

Let's be honest - this is good for college football.
College football is better when USC is good.
Great hire by USC.
Yup, in fact just a napping giant, as always.
I'm a college traditionalist. I like when USC, ND, Texas, Michigan, UCLA, etc are doing well.
The health of the game needs better west coast teams in particular...
Well, whatever. Bring it Trojans. ND's upcoming recruiting classes are damn good.
Riley was HR hire by USC.

One who is ready and willing to spend millions of dollars to improve the program and commit to big boy football.
and the other, which has held power for the last decade plus which just wants to continue things as they, cashing ACC checks and going 7-5 most years.

As a fan it sucks to watch them care so little about what put the university on the map.
The group in power currently, just wants to cash a conference welfare check.

Kingsbury would be an awesome hire...make it happen...

Would Kingsbury really leave the Cards?
They have a SB caliber team right now.

I understand OU swinging big but why would Kingsbury leave for that job?

I'm sure a lunatic OU homer can think of a reason.
