It really seems like the game is slowing down for him, and he’s really showing his talents out there. It seems like he’s developing into a ball hawking Free Safety. I’m really excited for this kid’s future.
Earlier in the season I was a little disappointed that he didn’t seem to be living up to his draft status, but the last several weeks he seems to have turned a corner. Happy to be proven wrong.
which is nice since he is one of the few younger guys we see actually developing. Not at a criticism but he could have potentially come down with 3 interceptions yesterday.
He is good support for corners and he is getting his hands on balls that are being put in harm's way. Clean up the tackling a little more and trust his speed and you are looking at an asset at Safety.
a couple big takeaway seasons from Safeties this decade - Stevie Brown with 7 in 2012 and Collins with 6 during his all pro year in 2016. But neither of those were natural ballhawks defending the pass in the way McKinney appears to be. Exciting player.
He is turning into the S we have been trying to locate for several years.
I think equally as important the last couple of weeks we have also seen Love elevate his level of play. He still has some flaws; he's missed a few tackles the last couple of weeks with poor angles. But he tends to be around the ball and makes plays. The end of last year I thought his forced play back at his more natural CB position was going to yield us a CB. But, the Giants had other ideas. Now, I like the idea of Love and McKinney starting moving forward with Ryan as the 3rd S (like Grant from a few years back). Peppers can walk.
They have a good core of DBs, but the lack of pressure has meant inconsistent play from them, even with all the talent. To me, a dominant OLB is a must in the draft. However, I specifically say OLB and not EDGE. Why? Because our current D doesn't just have issues rushing the passer, but also setting the edge in the run game. We need a closer to complete OLB, even if the emphasis is on the rush game.
I feel like Ojulari and Roche give us a nice base, but we need 1 dominant player there.
Stevie Brown looked great with all the interceptions, too. You really have be sit down with the film and watch him on all the other plays before we declare him a star. I sure hope he becomes one. It would be nice for Engram to have a roommate at the Pro-Bowl.

Brown did nothing else well besides catching some bad passes. HMcKinney is actually making plays all around. He is starting to make plays near the LOS in the run game. He is defending passes. He is taking good drops and angles and reads to prevent some passes altogether. And, he is making big plays. There really is not a comparison between McKinney and Brown.

Lol, I can’t tell if this is a joke or you really can’t tell the difference between the two?
I know it would be luxury and the lines need to be fixed but could you imagine if Kyle Hamilton is there during our first pick? I would really be all for drafting him if Neal and Hutchinson are gone. With peppers likely gone and Logan Ryan getting up there I would be for it. Def need pass rush but we should stay ahead in keeping our secondary which is a strength to stay that way.
Agreed I don't think Love gets enough... well... Love on this site. Seriously.

Big fan of the McKinney and Love combo. Versatility, ball skills, and coverage ability.
Love is the most underrated player on this roster
Running thru the WR over the middle on the next to last play where he almost picked off Hurts a second time is a clear sign of this.

Good call. I know he didn't catch the INT but that's the type of play that shows it's coming together for him.
a pairing of him and Kyle Hamilton from ND would be a good combo

I'm still not sure how he dropped that INT though. Should've cost them the game.

Solid young core for the DB.
