For those who watched Alabama / Auburn this week ...

Gary Danielson had a great observation about the struggles of the right side of the Bama OL vs the Tiger defense ... paraphrasing ... fans don’t understand how 1 or 2 weak spots on the OL throw everything off and can destroy an offense. You try to help them out with looks, formations and play calling and you go nowhere.

Bottom line ...this team goes nowhere until the OL is fixed. And all discussion on any of the skill players remains moot until this happens.
I'm a Bama fan...

I know there is a lot of chatter about the 'weak' Tide offensive line. I would say this needs perspective. The Alabama OL is not as dominant as it has been. There's also some growing pains with Bryce Young under center. The also lost offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian and two bed rock seniors on the OL (Leatherwood and Dickerson).

There is no comparison between Bama's OL and the Giants OL. One is effective and developing, the other is FUBAR.
just for perspective if the Giant OL was Alabama's they would be

That’s exactly the point ... As good as the Bama line is, their right side had trouble with Auburn’s defense and it threw off the rest of the offense while they tried to deal with it...

The biggest thing I have seen is they are not run blocking like usual which then carries over to pass blocking. Last years OL coach left and Marrone came in. I know he is a respected coach but maybe that is part of it.

Usually they just steam roll teams in the run game in the second half. This is the biggest difference I have noticed.

The OL drop in quality is certainly a real thing, but another factor is the step-down in RB quality. When Najee Harris graduated, Red-Shirt Senior, Brian Robinson became the default bell cow. Sophomore Trey Sanders stepped-up as the #2 back, but he's there by default. Behind him are a couple of underwhelming (but young) Sophomore's, McClellan and Roydell Williams. They're all Division I quality backs, but in the SEC that's not enough.

Thanks for those insights. You may be right and the backs are a big part of it. I have just gotten so accustomed to seeing them just bully teams in the second half. The standard is so high I guess but they just seem a little off this year.
