Knicks had a great win saturday, undermanned and went in and beat a hot Atlanta team in their building..
This week doesnt get any easier @nets tuesday TNT, home Bulls on thursday and home nuggets saturday..
Basically 3 home games, Knicks have played the Bulls tough and Nuggets are struggling have no bench..
As for thr starters i think i stick with Kemba but with this caveat: you tell him be agressive, get into the paint, if doubled dish, if he is playing well you let him go, if not take him out, short leash..
It was easier to do but i liked the mkxing matching against atlanta, it allowed different guys to get into a rythym, instead of 5 starters and 5 bench...Mixing and matching allowed Fournier, Burks, Quick, Rj and Toppin all get into the flow of the game..
Reiterates how some of the depth needs to be consolidated
Thibs needs to split up Randle/RJs minutes. I know its unavoidable that they are going to share the court together, but he needs to do a better job of staggering them. It worked last year because RJ was hitting 3s at a much higher rate, but this year they just do not look like they can play together. They just take turns trying to get theirs, and there is very little ball movement. RJ looked really good with the second unit against Atlanta, let's see more of that.

Said the same thing the other week. Thibs needs to stagger the starters.

Its hard to do when you have a 10 man rotation
Dude is made of glass. Makes Shep look like an iron man.

It’s not good. His back injury was the reason he fell in the draft if I remember correctly.
The front office is probably realizing by now they should've trusted the young guys more. The minutes going to Kemba, Fournier and Noel could've gone to IQ, Grimes, Obi, Sims, etc., without sacrificing much of anything, but I suppose they wanted some insurance. We have two vets at every spot - Rose/Kemba at the point, Fournier/Burks on the wing, Noel/Taj at the five - where they could've gotten away with just one. Not a huge deal, but it would be nice to consolidate at some point.

His 3rd back surgery. Nuggets just gave him HUGE money too.

Nuggets are in trouble, they just gave him the max, he has now had 2 back surgeries before 23 and has nerve damage
I dont think IQ should start until next year at the earliest
I thought it was a bad signing prior to the injury and now it’s an awful signing
Not because of his back issues I just didn’t think he was worth that money
Rose, Noel, Gibson questionable
Wow, and Kemba is out of the rotation. That was the move to make, as much as we all wanted a happier Kemba/NYC reunion. Welcome to the rotation, Quentin Grimes.
Burks/Rose
Fournier/IQ
RJ/Grimes
Randle/Obi
Mitch/Noel
Yeah sounds like Thibs wants to mix and match more, which means more Rj with bench i would think
I really thought he had one more all star season in him and coming back to NY would rejuvinate him..
But we saw the difference immediately with Burks at point, team is bigger, better defensively..
well it wasn't *just* Porter they didn't draft....it was the guys taken immediately after Knox (Mikal Bridges, Miles Bridges, SGH), not to mention the 10-15 OTHER guys taken later in that draft who appear to be rotation players, lol.
Everyone gets a little more minutes and get into better rythym
I still think Kemba can/will play a role for this team.
I would still rather have MPJ, back surgery and all, over Knox.

in a vacuum? Yes. With that max contract? Eh...

Id rather have the guy who sits only on a 1 year 5 million dollar deal than a 5 hear 200 million dollar contract that doesnt start until next year..
nerve damage in yojr back doesnt just get better and once you have 1 back aurgery you will have more..
Doctors do a surgery on your back as a last resort
Screw the Lebron Pistons nonsense. This Jokic brothers vs.the Heat shit is some real WWE shit that I'd buy tickets for.

A statistical summary of why the Knicks are pulling Kemba Walker from the rotation:
Knicks have the best defense in the league when he’s on the bench (99.0 DRtg) & are dead last (116.3 DRtg) when he’s on the floor.
They are 27th in offense with him playing, 9th with him off.

This made me even sadder
I think whoever the next point guard is has to play defense and be able to effect the game passing and shooting..
When Kemba was shooting well from 3 for that short stretch the Knicks were playing well offensively..
The reason it works with Burks or IQ or Rose with Randle is becaise they are effective off the ball, kemba wasnt..
Lillard for example would probably welcome playing with randle
They will definitely be in the market for point, it just better not be ben simmons
Like a week ago?
Like a week ago?
actually i have consistenly said that it would be hard to bench Kemba because then he is completely out of the rotation and i didnt think the Knicks would do that..
I also said that i would put Burks into the starting lineup if a change was madr, i said it multiple times saturday before the game that i would start Burks at point with Kemba and Rose out...
and whrn i said Trade Randle, i said if he didnt take a backseat scoring wise and relied on Defense, Reboinding and moving the ball..He was trying to score to much forcing shots and the others were not getting intl a rythym..
Since then he has taken less shots and moved the ball, in the 2md half on saturday he deferred to the others..
You want to call someone out at least know what your talking about

Wow. Pretty much had to make the move.
That's too bad. Wonder who would get his minutes if he's out.
There do seem to be some non-covid bugs going around, I know a couple of people who've been under the weather lately.

Id be surprised if he doesnt play, also surprised if Rose doesnt play, if both dont you need Kemba lol..
hahah TRUTH, my wife hates during the game nygiants

Wow.
Considering the starts from JR & RJ, I am somewhat relieved we're above .500. I expect both of them-well, hoping as much-to up their games as the season progresses.

The numbers probably overstate it: they also reflect the play of his fellow starters. But, yeah, he’s had some brutal games.
and neither are good defenders so it just felt like to much to cover up on that side, if just Kemba and kept Bullock or started burks at the 2 you could hide Kemba and maybe Kemba offensively could be more agressive..
Need to see more Obi and Grimes.
I will take MPJ with lumbar fusion and a spinal cord stimulator, hell in a wheelchair, than that fucking turd Knox. What a miss.

Trading one washed up PG for a more expensive washed point guard isn't the move to make. Hopefully this rumor doesn't come to fruition.

I dont think Knicks have the salaries to match anyway, but if Rockets offered a couple of 1sts, i would think about it

You wanna get even more pissed? Hahn was on NBA radio with Isola and Scal this morning and was saying he could see the Knicks pursuing Westbrook. Said that they lack that "alpha" type star. Uchhhhhhh

he was on the westbrook train when the Rockets wanted to trade him..
i was happy with Kemba because i thought he could play off the ball, takeover when needed and really help this team..
hes so much different on his facebook page and his facebook lives...
I feel like when he is on the radio or on espn he falls for the Knicks for clicks
you know he is going to the line 15 times tonight

Yeah it seems like all the clickbait radio people like him, Kay , WFAN guys always fall for that get obsessed with the star name crap. Thankfully Rose is starting to build up a nice rep of not falling for that nonsense and sticking to sensible moves. I mean their logic doesn't make any sense. We are benching Kemba mainly because of his defense and we're gonna bring in ball hog no D "stars" like Wall or Westbrook?
And of course the contract makes it impossible.
got Jarrett Allen for nothing and signed him for modest money in today's nba. what a season he is having.
Cavs this offseason
- extend Allen
- sign Lauri for cheap at the lows
- trade nothing for Rubio
- Draft Mobley
- didn't overpay Sexton
So much winning--- LETEMKNOW Cleveland.
people were running the guy out of town and now he should be GM of the year.
toughest schedule in NBA- most injuries in NBA-- still 11-10 with a roster of little kids.

Who gives a shit about Cleveland?
Its not a signing that will kill them by any means, just never saw the fit with the group they had.
Believe it or not, Kemba probably was a better for the Lakers than he was for the Knicks.

if you were around for more then a month you would know that my best friend is the GM of the cavs--- the thread was talking harden--- who ( i am a nets fan) Allen was involved in the trade. Allen had another huge game last night. I route for the cavs because of my buddy--- so that was my cavs rant--- harmless- but also showing that you can build a team with defense first as they are doing--- and that 1 good offseason can change a franchise.

Markkanen will be hurt soon. Its only a matter of time. Cleveland will fight for a play in game but they arent ready for the big dance yet.

Oh I see. I was just doing a little bit of harmless ribbing.
