NFT: Knicks chat: Tough week ahead

nygiants16 : 11/29/2021 11:27 am
Knicks had a great win saturday, undermanned and went in and beat a hot Atlanta team in their building..

This week doesnt get any easier @nets tuesday TNT, home Bulls on thursday and home nuggets saturday..

Basically 3 home games, Knicks have played the Bulls tough and Nuggets are struggling have no bench..

As for thr starters i think i stick with Kemba but with this caveat: you tell him be agressive, get into the paint, if doubled dish, if he is playing well you let him go, if not take him out, short leash..

It was easier to do but i liked the mkxing matching against atlanta, it allowed different guys to get into a rythym, instead of 5 starters and 5 bench...Mixing and matching allowed Fournier, Burks, Quick, Rj and Toppin all get into the flow of the game..

Reiterates how some of the depth needs to be consolidated

Defense is a sieve when he is on the court.

A statistical summary of why the Knicks are pulling Kemba Walker from the rotation:

Knicks have the best defense in the league when he’s on the bench (99.0 DRtg) & are dead last (116.3 DRtg) when he’s on the floor.

They are 27th in offense with him playing, 9th with him off.

Wow.
...
SFGFNCGiantsFan : 11/29/2021 7:29 pm : link
& this sucks for Kemba. He's been a solid pro &-from all accounts-is a good dude. But I feared that he was cooked &, for the most part, he's looked done. His defense-never a strong suit is LOL bad.

Considering the starts from JR & RJ, I am somewhat relieved we're above .500. I expect both of them-well, hoping as much-to up their games as the season progresses.

Warriors/Suns follow us up on TNT tomorrow night.

That’s gonna be fun, and hopefully a WCF preview.
I killed Knicks for MPJ

And was wrong on Kemba . I’m a man I admit! That being said if we drafted him and knew of his back (was that bad) we could have traded. And kemba didn’t cost anything. That being said I was wrong.

The numbers probably overstate it: they also reflect the play of his fellow starters. But, yeah, he’s had some brutal games.
Now Kemba
Carl in CT : 11/30/2021 12:22 am : link
Be a man. Step up your game. Work your ass off or step away. Don’t tarnish your image as NY always loves its home town players. You were a great college player, great pro, if you work your ass off fine. Or bow out gracefully. Be a leader and help the kids.
I do wonder
nygiants16 : 11/30/2021 7:42 am : link
If Kemba would of been better if they didnt sign Fournier and vice versa, was adding 2 scorers to much to gel...

and neither are good defenders so it just felt like to much to cover up on that side, if just Kemba and kept Bullock or started burks at the 2 you could hide Kemba and maybe Kemba offensively could be more agressive..
To be fair..
JohninSC : 11/30/2021 8:17 am : link
Thibs maddingly did play Elfrid Payton all year last year. Wasn't expecting such a short leash on Kemba. I didn't want Kemba 2 years ago at the money he wanted.
Had to be done, it was sad and infuriating watching Kamba. He was
Jim in Hoboken : 11/30/2021 8:30 am : link
so careless with the ball too, especially during crunch time.

Need to see more Obi and Grimes.

I will take MPJ with lumbar fusion and a spinal cord stimulator, hell in a wheelchair, than that fucking turd Knox. What a miss.

on a 5 year 200 million dollar contract? that contract may blow up the nuggets
Had a feeling this rumor was coming
nygiants16 : 11/30/2021 8:52 am : link
Multiple league sources believe the Knicks will look to trade Kemba Walker, per
@ASherrodblakely

“A source close to the Knicks indicated New York may also have a potential trade partner in the Houston Rockets, who are eager to move John Wall.”

Trading one washed up PG for a more expensive washed point guard isn't the move to make. Hopefully this rumor doesn't come to fruition.

I dont think Knicks have the salaries to match anyway, but if Rockets offered a couple of 1sts, i would think about it
Wouldn't put Fournier and Kemba's defense on the same level
Ten Ton Hammer : 11/30/2021 9:11 am : link
Kemba's just really limited by his knees.

You wanna get even more pissed? Hahn was on NBA radio with Isola and Scal this morning and was saying he could see the Knicks pursuing Westbrook. Said that they lack that "alpha" type star. Uchhhhhhh

he was on the westbrook train when the Rockets wanted to trade him..
I think no doubt knicks
nygiants16 : 11/30/2021 10:07 am : link
are waiting for a star point, i dont think Wall or Westbrook at this point should be that star point..

i was happy with Kemba because i thought he could play off the ball, takeover when needed and really help this team..
for a guy who

Curious to get a look at Harden tonight.
bceagle05 : 11/30/2021 11:11 am : link
At some point the "working himself into game shape" is going to transition to "he's just older, fatter and slower and isn't drawing as many fouls." Nets fans were booing him the other night.

you know he is going to the line 15 times tonight
Yep, I wouldn't be surprised.
bceagle05 : 11/30/2021 11:27 am : link
I'm sure he has plenty of great games left in him, but he just doesn't appear to be in very good shape. You look at pictures of him from five years ago in Houston and compare it to now, and he has a noticeable Dad Bod going. He's gonna sign a monster contract this summer - presumably with the Nets - and it's going to be a disaster in a year or two.
the Harden contract
Enzo : 11/30/2021 11:39 am : link
situation is fascinating. Supposedly he was close to an extension but that didn't happen. I wonder if Brookln was trying to get him for less than the full 5 year max - which is huge. I don't think there's a lot of cap space out there next summer, so my guess is he just stays in Brooklyn.

Yeah it seems like all the clickbait radio people like him, Kay , WFAN guys always fall for that get obsessed with the star name crap. Thankfully Rose is starting to build up a nice rep of not falling for that nonsense and sticking to sensible moves. I mean their logic doesn't make any sense. We are benching Kemba mainly because of his defense and we're gonna bring in ball hog no D "stars" like Wall or Westbrook?
The wall thing has to be fluff
Ten Ton Hammer : 11/30/2021 12:07 pm : link
Wall doesn't pass the thibs filter. He's not a defender and I doubt he wants to be a drive to the basket PG anymore.

And of course the contract makes it impossible.

your clevelanddddddd Cavs.... and GM Koby Altman.

got Jarrett Allen for nothing and signed him for modest money in today's nba. what a season he is having.

Cavs this offseason
- extend Allen
- sign Lauri for cheap at the lows
- trade nothing for Rubio
- Draft Mobley
- didn't overpay Sexton

So much winning--- LETEMKNOW Cleveland.
people were running the guy out of town and now he should be GM of the year.
toughest schedule in NBA- most injuries in NBA-- still 11-10 with a roster of little kids.
Hell no to

One thing I did get right
GNewGiants : 11/30/2021 1:51 pm : link
was that I thought the Kemba signing was bad for the Knicks. I just didnt see it as a positive. He may turn it around, but it just seems hes at his best with the ball and his knees arent what they were.

Its not a signing that will kill them by any means, just never saw the fit with the group they had.

Believe it or not, Kemba probably was a better for the Lakers than he was for the Knicks.

if you were around for more then a month you would know that my best friend is the GM of the cavs--- the thread was talking harden--- who ( i am a nets fan) Allen was involved in the trade. Allen had another huge game last night. I route for the cavs because of my buddy--- so that was my cavs rant--- harmless- but also showing that you can build a team with defense first as they are doing--- and that 1 good offseason can change a franchise.

Markkanen will be hurt soon. Its only a matter of time. Cleveland will fight for a play in game but they arent ready for the big dance yet.
