Brutal contract. Can see why no one else in MLB was willing to match that.
Great to see you in tune with what the Mets are doing! Maybe the Yanks will do something of significance soon to try to catch up to the Astros, Red Sox and Rays.

Wake us up when the Mets actually win something. Any year now! 35 years and counting!
Hating on the Mets is likely a miserable F. Enjoy Mets fans. Since 1962 it’s 8 rings to 2. We’ll never catch up. The big brother complex is only a few guys who probably have issues outside this forum.

Go find a Yankees thread if you can find one, might not be though since nothing is going on in the Bronx at the moment. All is quiet over there.

being shitty on a positive, even celebratory Mets thread?
Never happen!
Hey, they've won 1 championship in the last 20 years... They're clearly the best team anyone could ever hope to root for, and their success clearly makes the people who root for them better than everyone else.
if "no tread" = another top 3 CY finish I'll take that.
I would be concerned about his dead arm in the NLCS.
The dead arm may have been a one-off, and the Dodgers using him out of the pen in the NLDS didn't help. That said, the Mets will be fools not to consider load management for a 37yo.

Just your mere presence on this thread (especially to throw cold water) shows us all how obviously twisted your panties are over this.
Which I have to say, really makes me happy.
Enjoy the positive attention the Mets are going to get the next several weeks!
RE: $43.3 Million a year for a guy pushing 40 with no tread on his tires?
Cole and Scherzer will be about thwe same age when each of their contracts expire. So all good for the Yankees spending $324 Million over nine years and not so good for the Mets spending $130 Million over three years??
It's a risk at his age for sure, but one that comes with big reward if it works out. There's a pathway to contention now - will require health for Max and JDG + better hitting. I like this a lot better than ~$25 M for a 2nd/3rd starter type.

You summed up the Met fan better than I even could. Enjoy that 'positive attention' over the next several weeks. I guess that makes up for not winning anything barely ever as a franchise. Very Jet-esque. :)

the yanks signed Peraza!!!
Why whenever there is big Mets news does Dave invade these threads?
And then hilariously suggest Mets fans suffer from little brother syndrome. Always unprovoked, and always on his own, which is kind of ironic if you think about it.
He was banned for a few weeks during the 2015 World Series for the same thing. I and many others remember that.
It's weird Dave. Especially for anyone over the age of 12.

Dude why are you even on this thread? The Mets and their fans don't get by on "positive attention". But I do know that you hate it when we get it. I would flip it back on you and say again that just you being here on this thread proves that you care very much about what the Mets are doing and it's all based on your insecurities as a Yankee fan. All that winning over the years and you're still a little bitch of a Yankee fan.

Impotent dipshit.
RE: $43.3 Million a year for a guy pushing 40 with no tread on his tires?
The Mets need to reduce the workload on Scherzer and deGrom.
So they will need to have more middle of the order depth.
I like the moves the Mets have made but I doubt they are done
I would love the Mets to trade with the A's
The A's are in a full money dump and as such are a good match with the Mets
The Mets have stated that they will take on bad contracts to facilitate a trade. The Mets should take on some bad contracts, trade Dom, Davis, and or McNeil, along with lower level pitching prospects for Sean Manaea (29) , who is represented by Scott Boras or Chris Bassitt (32)
Manaea, is projected to earn $10.3 million and is 3rd-Year Arb Eligible and will not be a free agent until 2023. He would be perfect for the Mets. A left handed power pitcher. He is a 2-3 starter on a good team.
Chris Bassitt is (32) is projected to make $8.8 million
The owners are probably thinking the same thing. 's why we're headed for a lockout.
As long as fans are willing to keep paying more for tickets and TV, it will continue to escalate.
Better to sign Arod until he is 45 or take on Stanton’s 13 year deal
Sad day for you! LOL
Brutal contract. Can see why no one else in MLB was willing to match that.
15-4, 2.46 in 2021.
Link - ( New Window )
Beers will still be $18.
Fried food is bad for you anyway. lol
Let's GOOOOO!!!

Happy to see the Mets add one of the best in the game. Great day for Met fans. Ignore sad people who just like to tell other people not to be happy.

Playing, here’s to one fucking hell of a subway series next season.

Pushing 40? He won't even be 38 until next summer.
No tread on his tires? His 2021 stats: 15-4, 2.46 ERA (and ERA+ of 166), 0.864 WHIP. Finished 3rd in Cy Young voting, finished 14th in MVP voting.
Oh, and here are the leaders in fWAR for pitchers for the last 6 years:
1. Max Scherzer 33.2
2. Jacob deGrom 30.5
3. Gerrit Cole 25.9
4. Chris Sale 23.5
5. Aaron Nola 22.7
6. Justin Verlander 22.5
7. Clayton Kershaw 22.4
If Scherzer doesn't have any tread left, what does it say about your boy Cole, who trails Scherzer by a wide margin??
Stan talking out of his ass, example #642....
Hang in there Stan - you'll get something right. Eventually....

Regarding #3 - true, but us Met fans have had such a shitty owner for so long, it's great to finally have one who's willing to spend!
It's a LOT of money though, feels like yesterday A-Rod was signing his 10 year deal.
