For the Giants, per Matt Miller:

Patriots-ties candidates:

Mike Borgonzi
Ryan Cowden
Thomas Dimitroff
Jim Nagy
Monti Ossenfort
Scott Pioli
Ryan Poles
Dave Ziegler

Non-Patriots candidates:

Ed Dodds
Terry Fontenot
Joe Hortiz
Jeff Ireland
Daniel Jeremiah
Louis Riddick
Joe Schoen
Fontenot is currently Falcons GM

That makes no sense. Nor would I want someone like Riddick who has no clue on how winning teams are built.

He might be the one guy on the list who Chris Mara would defer to.
Ryan Cowden worked for Gettleman in Carolina.
cosmicj : 11/29/2021 11:06 pm : link
He’s an interesting candidate.
I’d be surprised if Dave Ziegler is a realistic candidate
cosmicj : 11/29/2021 11:08 pm : link
Very lite. He overlaps with Judge but was a scout while Judge was there.
The non Pats segment is a mess
cosmicj : 11/29/2021 11:14 pm : link
You have very legit candidates like Schoen (who worked with Koncz in Carolina), Hortiz (who I think should be a leading candidate for the Giants job) and Dodds along with some more questionable names.

Jeff Ireland is an under the radar name, though. Multiple Giants connections and may have got a raw deal in Miami.
Zak DeOssie has my vote.
rasbutant : 11/30/2021 12:31 am : link
He played college football for Brown University.

DeOssie has joined Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management to take up a role advising high-net-worth individuals, families and institutions on wealth planning and smart investment strategies.

“The opportunity to help people preserve and grow their hard-earned wealth is what drives me,” DeOssie said regarding his new role. He also said during his time as a sports pro that, “I saw firsthand how wealth can be managed (or mismanaged) and how critical that is, and that’s when it clicked for me.”

Roster building will fit well with Judge...He is a 13yr special teams player after all.
Dimitroff was a shooting star
FranknWeezer : 11/30/2021 1:29 am : link
and faded in ATL. I’m still intrigued though.

"hard-earned wealth." 🤣🤣🤣
Forgive me. I've been watching Succession.
Joe Hortiz is a nuts and bolts football man.
Optimus-NY : 11/30/2021 4:51 am : link
He comes from an organization, the Ravens, of execs schooled by Ozzie Newsome. This is the guy.
Schoen or Dodds

Would be good choices.

Yes.
Really think it comes down to

Pioli and Abrams, but it is getting harder to justify Abrams
I like Pioli the person and his historical view but isn't he
GiantTuff1 : 11/30/2021 6:56 am : link
just a retread old school guy? Does he know how to build a team in the modern NFL? He of building the illustrious Matt Cassel led Chiefs....

I also believe KC fans funded a plane to fly over Arrowhead with a “fire Pioli” message. I’d stay away from Pioli, prefer Dimitroff if it’s a retread.

After KC he was an Assistant GM in Atlanta during Dan Quinn era where they had good offenses, but terrible defenses and Julio Jones contract became an albatross.
Ziegler is the current “gm” of the pats
Tuckrule : 11/30/2021 8:35 am : link
I heard an interview on wfan radio with a pats beat reporter who was raving about his intelligence and work ethic. Says Bill relies on Ziegler tremendously and it’s one of most most trusted voices in the building. Would love to get that guy here.
A lot of these guys will decline interviews..
Sean : 11/30/2021 8:38 am : link
We all bash the Giants, but a lot of these teams hire from within. I’m sure many of these guys are next in line with their respective teams. Hopefully there are a few guys Mara can interview from the outside who would be interested.
Jim Nagy of Senior Bowl fame?
