#Giants QB Daniel Jones suffered a strained neck early in last week’s win over the #Eagles and his status is TBD for Sunday’s game against the #Dolphins, per sources.
are no joke. Even strains can linger and be a real nuisance to sleep/movement/pain etc. I’m dealing with one myself just as a non athlete that’s been on and off for three weeks.
However, if he indeed is out, it allows a different way to evaluate him in 2021 - we can see what the offense looks like for an extended period with Glennon or Fromm running it. If the offense does about the same, that will also say a lot. If it does worse, then we know Jones was adding some value. If it does better, that screams a lot.
He strained it looking at Barkley’s forward progress.
If it’s not a disc or a break, there’s no reason a “neck strain” would severely limit him. Also if he played the the rest of the game, he shouldn’t be out a week later (ie, if he had structural damage unsafe to play he would have been pulled).

AJ Brown went back into the game a couple weeks ago, finished the game and then went on IR
Does it also explain the low score and the "off" passes to Golladay?
How can folks claim DJ is "injury prone" with this OL?
He got hurt last time ramming head first into a defender. That's not on the OL. That's on him being reckless. Before that he injured himself on an out of the pocket run. That's not on the OL.

If they’re being honest about the injury thou it shouldn’t put him on IR. If they came out and said he has a fractured neck and he played thru it but now we know, that’s a different story. A neck strain isn’t dangerous
On a option inside run. He is not a natural runner and being 6’5” doesn’t help. His runs need to be in space. Bad things happen when he makes contact. Just doesn’t have that natural ability.

^This. Jones is a straight line runner, like a sprinter. On a track that's great. On a football field it can be a real liability. He takes a lot of hits. They may be hoping it's just a strain but fearful it could be more.
RE: RE: So Jones strained his neck early in last week's game...
it say on twitter? The page doesn't exist anymore.
This guy has a carpenter who is good friends with one of the Mara's sons, and claimed while not trying to be definitive, feel Jones is not out this Sunday, but the rest of the year.

Yet the keep calling designed runs for him between the tackles. Off tackle he can slide and should. When he’s running between the tackles there’s no opportunity to slide. Especially when the back misses a simple block

I agree - know exactly which play you're referring to. Even Schlereth was really taken aback at how hard Jones ran into defenders and head-first.
He did look a little gingerly getting up and going back but still threw decently. Possible it strained further and really tightened up last day or two.

As a person who has c4-c7 fused, yeah, these are no jokes.
WTF?
DJ Tweet Injury - ( New Window )
And he never had a 50 yards rushing game or an 80 yard run on one play.

What a blessing that was.

Oh boy...
Big news if true.
If so, DJ ends the year well short of the 30 passing TD total many here were laying down as a benchmark for 2021…
Carpenters have always been a great source of information in my life, too. ;)
Are we sure he hurt it running? Could've just as easily hurt it getting nailed in the pocket.

It’s not that unusual. He may not have felt it until the next day, and thought it would resolve itself by Sunday (which it probably will).
Maybe it’s the carpenter who wants to start Solder too?
I give DJ a lot of credit for his effort and toughness but you can't have QBs take that many straight-on type of hits out of the pocket.
Shitty offense...
What is there to drop off to? They gonna score 10 points/game?

Yeah I've strained a muscle before and not felt it until the next day.

Eli played with awful OLs his last years and missed little time.

Yeah it’s been deleted..my guess total bullshit

That tweet was out before any injury news came out. Wouldn’t totally dismiss it

I remember that and and read your post with Scully's voice in my head. Man, we used to have such great announcers, great story tellers..
haha, good call here SFG.
I loved the old-time baseball announcers. Best characters in the world...
