For pretty much a decade. Martinez was finally a competent player and he gets hurt. Crowder, through no fault of his own, is not an NFL starting caliber player or anything close to it.
our D is showing signs of being above average, even with absolute shit at the Edge and ILB positions. If we could add a quality Egde and ILB, and getting Martinez back, we could be elite. Our D is not that far off.
Crowder is a backup LB who is only playing MLB and playing much at all due to injury. He’s a below average backup as you might expect for a Mr. Irrelevant. Spending time wailing about his deficiencies is low hanging fruit if there ever was low hanging fruit. As a backup who is starting due to injury he’s not even the worst one on the Giants. I think Price has that honor and he was a first round draft choice not a Mr. Irrelevant.

Technically Judge decided to make Price a starter after Week 1, with Gates at LG beside him. Big mistake.
He's the anti-Ogletree. It's not easy for guys who grew up with the big thumping LBs of the past Giants teams but for the way teams play these days his ability to run and tackle in the open field is important. Yes, he is not physical and is light in the ass but there is also a reason that not a lot of linebackers look like Pepper Johnson anymore. Crowder hurts you a bit in the run game but it's a passing league now.
If we had drafted Parsons like I had hoped. I'm not down on Toney but he's injured a lot while Parsons is playing at an all-pro level. If you had a choice of an all-pro WR or LB, I'd take the LB.

I think there's a good chance Gates got hurt because he moved. He was physically overmatched before he got hurt in that game.
RE: Crowder is out there because he can really run.

I agree with you but not ragland and crowder at the same time
they get pushed all over the field like roller skates
Why did we get MCkinney if not to stop the run
Graham is not an adjustment guy....he finally called for a pressure D and I applaud that but when they decided to run run run we should have answered with B McKinney....two McKinneys are better than one lol

He got handled like Barkley trying to stop Jamal Adams sheeesh

Gates was moved to guard because Lemieux was injured. No injury no Price.

Best kept secret fuck up in the NFC is that Philly and NYG let this guy go to Dallas.
Everyone is focused on stupid Smith in Philly as if any NYG gives two fucks about him.
Toney has nice moves and plays once a month. I can forgive DG for EVERYTHING up until now. Jones picked 6th? Fine. Barkley? No problem. The OL failures? HE tried.
Letting PArsons go to Dallas was unforgiveable And the fact that reports say "Parsons wasn't even on NYG's radar" --yeah, fire DG and that stupid 2022 first round and Toney into the hackensack river. You can have them all. I want Parsons damnit.
He’s not a plus player, I think we all know that but he’s hardly the most glaring problem with these Giants. You could certainly argue, as I think some have here already that he’s a pretty good backup considering where he was drafted.
If Baldy wants to kvetch he should look at our offense where we have several top picks that are essentially stealing money from the Giants.
… I agree I thought he was having a decent game running around and making plays but to be fair, when you get walked back into the secondary on a run and play as a middle linebacker somebody needs to take you to task.
The middle of the Giants defense looks like the middle of the Giants offense.
Oh, c'mon - that was major holding by the LG on that play. Not saying Johnson would have made the play without the hold, but most lineman have no chance when they are blatantly being held like that...
If that gets called a hold against one of my guys…

And yes Crowder should not be the starting MLB/ILB
Ive never seen so many injuries in my life
Perhaps we should include toughness in our draft specs
The John Mendenhalls, Brian Kellys and Brad Van Pelts were never injured.
What happened to Jones was a half measure
you either slide or bull forward upright.....he tried to do both and they targeted him on the ground
Broderick McKinney should be on the inside all game long
Ragland and Crowder not so much
Teams are running all over us

I wanted Dickerson so badly in the draft.... damn.

was not a fair fight with Crowder there
Maybe Crowder has quicker feet or something
or just has a knack for coverage compared to McKinney

A win for a normal LB is to occupy a block and clog a lane against a lineman.

Sure there’s some grabbing going on but it’s inside at the chest plate.
That’s a damn good block
