NFT: Bulls @ Knicks @ 730pm

nygiants16 : 12/2/2021 12:30 pm
series is 1-1, last game Knicks had a chance to win but couldnt close it out..

I think Thibs found his closing lineup with Rose, quick, Burks, Randle and Mitch, Fournier and Rj will be sprinkled in but i think he trists those 5 right now to close. Defense is good, team moves the ball and can score..

We have seen the Bulls, we know how they play, they play through Derozan and Lavin with Vucevic spreading the floor..I exoect the Knicks to attack vucevic, he is not the greatest defender..

Their bench is thin but Donavon keeps Derozan or Lavine on the floor at all times..

Should be fun, both games were battles, expect the same

Some guy I never heard of on the Memphis bench was +52 over 28 minutes
Honestly it’s hard to find a fit.
bceagle05 : 12/2/2021 10:55 pm : link
Paying RJ $100+ million makes no sense for them, and they already have a million draft picks.
SGA is in concussion protocol
bceagle05 : 12/2/2021 10:55 pm : link
so I’m guessing he was out tonight. OKC minus him is a disaster.
SGA shooting numbers
GMEN46 : 12/3/2021 12:31 am : link
Are bad so far this year. Julius Randle should be told he is not allowed to dribble or try to score in the last 2 minutes if a game. He can’t make free throws and he turns the ball. At least the 2nd gsme we lost this year because of his free throws and turnovers at the end of a game.
I've been away for the last 8 days or so, but...
Leg of Theismann : 12/3/2021 1:34 am : link
just wanted to say: we will never win anything of significance if our best player and leader (i.e. Randle) is so extremely un-clutch. I know we can't win a championship with him as our best player anyway, but I'm saying we won't even win a playoff series, and it will be tough to win anything with him even as our 2nd best player because he just absolutely plays his worst basketball when the pressure is REALLY on. It's demoralizing to think about, and I'm sure demoralizing for the team. The team works so hard to come all the way back and Randle completely blows it. 1/3 shooting FTs in the last 2 minutes, and then with a tie game he does exactly the thing you CANNOT do: turn the ball over. Not only do you not get a shot on basket, you give the other team an easy 3 on 1 fast break so they can take the lead w/ less than 1 min left. It's like sending your QB out there in a tie game to lead a game winning drive and on the first play he just throws a pick 6. Ball security has to be #1 priority in that situation and Randle consistently exhibits a careless handle.

It's like the opposite of having Eli Manning. When we had Eli it just really felt like we always had a chance to win because we knew he was so clutch when the pressure was on late in the game. With Randle I feel the opposite. I just feel like we're going to lose every single game because he's going to fuck it up. Ball needs to be in the hands of Rose or Burks in those late game situations.

Alright rant over.
BTW
Leg of Theismann : 12/3/2021 1:36 am : link
I'm not saying Randle can NEVER become a clutch player. But it ain't looking good. And we'll never win anything real as long as he is so un-clutch. He's not just un-clutch, he's anti-clutch. He's awful in crunch time 95% of the time.

But IDK. Maybe he just needs to keep putting the work in. Last year he became a much better player but it was without fans in the stands. Maybe he just needs to keep working tirelessly and someday he'll be able to replicate that good play in crunch time situations.
Yes Randle
nygiants16 : 12/3/2021 6:47 am : link
missed 2 free throws and turned it over he choked last night but can we stop acting like he has never hit clutch shots for the Knicks..

We know he is not a number 1 but without him last night knicks arent even close..
How about having the “team” not get so far down that
CooperDash : 12/3/2021 7:03 am : link
they have to work hard to get back in the game. How about the “team” doesn’t turn over the ball 18 times.

It’s hard to win games when you have to consistently work your way back after digging yourself a big hole. That’s a team issue, not just a Randle issue. Nobody ever confused Randle with a superstar player but the fact is that the Knicks are better with him than without him.
I am not making excuses
nygiants16 : 12/3/2021 7:09 am : link
and them getting down by 20 there is no excuse they were sloppy and playing lackadasical..

But they were also shorthanded, no Rj ehich was big on the defensive end and Gibson getting tossed 3 minutes into him entering the game left them with 1 center..

They basically had no bench.. they had 2 guys off the bench play meaningful minutes..

I give them credit for coming back but they need to come out saturday and not play like they are easing into the game
December 15th is when trade season starts

i could see the Knicks making moves
This game came down to two things
JohninSC : 12/3/2021 8:07 am : link
1. The Knicks consistently being late rotating to Vuc on the perimeter. How many open 3's are we going to let him hit?

2. The Bulls had Lavine to close. We had Randle who came up small at the very end.

Thibs
five5 : 12/3/2021 8:12 am : link
Instead of complaining on EVERY call maybe he should have found a way to defend all the open 3s Vucevic had.
See everyone is blaming Randle
Stu11 : 12/3/2021 8:26 am : link
But the NBA and frankly sports in general is about putting a team together with players that excel in areas of their strength. What team asks their PF to bring the ball up and run the offense in a tie game with 2 minutes to go? We should have given Randle a true ball handler and facilitator this Summer and we didn't. We took a gamble on Kemba which at 8 mill per year for 2 years was fine, but it was a gamble that seems to be blowing up in our faces. You can blame Randle all you want, and yes the missed ft's are inexcusable but he was superb the rest of the game including most of the 4th qtr. For all the good Leon Rose has done, he and his management team have failed miserably at getting the most important piece of an NBA team- a star or even a DeRozan type that you can put the ball in his hands at the end of the game and ask him to either create a good shot for himself or a good look for a teammate. Randle actually made some huge plays to win games last year. He hasn't always been un clutch here, he's just struggled this year in a small sample size.

I didnt like Thibs taking out Rose with 5 minutes left, maybe he was tired, but he brought him back with 2 minutes left..

I would of went small with Toppin and Randle, amitch was gassed and couodnt get out on vucevic

Thibs seems to like to do that with Rose. Takes him out around the 6-8 minute mark of the 4th and brings him back at around 2 or 3. I agree on Toppin. Our defensive rebounding took a huge hit when he wasn't in there last night and he would do a much better job on Vuc. Since the foot injury Mitch simply doesn't have the quickness and burst to recover on those Vuc 3's the way Obi does.
The trade i would love for this team to make
nygiants16 : 12/3/2021 8:56 am : link
is trade for Brogdon and Turner, i think Pacers blow it up..

Probably take Rj and Mitch and cap filler maybe a future 1st..

Brogdon, Fournier, Burks, Randle, Turner

bench: Rose, Quick, Grimes, Toppin, Gibson

You keep your dynamic duo off the bench with Toppin..

Turner slides right in as a rim protector but spreads the floor offensively, Brogdon controls the offense, plays good defense, is big and strong just like Thibs likes

Endorsed.
That’s one team I don’t get.
Carl in CT : 12/3/2021 10:50 am : link
Sabonis, LeVert, Brogdon, Turner and Duarte and they just don’t get it done. If you were ranking our starters with there’s where would they fall? Mostly behind and the team continues to underachieve. Before you say it yes our bench is way better but on paper their starting 5 has it all over ours.

agreed its a weird group. Turner seems to not translate his high rating to wins (KAT similar ish? in that sense).

they are in a good spot to blow it up and rebuild- and probably should- peopel value their bigs- and brogdon has value-

I dont get it, you look at them on paper and they should be top 6 and its not like they have terrible players on their bench..

I could see them building around Levert, Duarte and Sabonis..
Knicks Lack That One Guy

who is money late in games and can go to at crunch time, like a Kevin Durant or DeMar DeRozan. Randle is not at that level. Barrett could be one day, but I have my doubts. Unitl they do, they are gonna more often lose close games instead of win them

Whats funny is Derozan was considered a career loser that came up small in big spots and you couodnt win with him as your 1st or 2nd player
I read somewhere that Indy
bceagle05 : 12/3/2021 11:20 am : link
has a positive point differential on the season but somehow is only 9-15. Sometimes one or two blowouts in a smaller sample size can skew that, but it points to some bad luck I guess. When they beat us decisively in Indy very early in the season, I figured they were about to take off after a slow start.
