series is 1-1, last game Knicks had a chance to win but couldnt close it out..
I think Thibs found his closing lineup with Rose, quick, Burks, Randle and Mitch, Fournier and Rj will be sprinkled in but i think he trists those 5 right now to close. Defense is good, team moves the ball and can score..
We have seen the Bulls, we know how they play, they play through Derozan and Lavin with Vucevic spreading the floor..I exoect the Knicks to attack vucevic, he is not the greatest defender..
Their bench is thin but Donavon keeps Derozan or Lavine on the floor at all times..
Should be fun, both games were battles, expect the same
Rose is always up for a game in Chicago this should be another fun one.
Vucevic looks like he has regained his shooting touch so Bulls have a legitimate three-headed scoring machine in Vucevic, Lavine, and DeRozan.
Coby White is out tonight for the Bulls which means more of Caruso and Ayo. Bulls bench is actually pretty good with regard to defensive intensity.
Should be a good game
The Knicks offense really requires five guys who can hit three pointers. That would stop all the doubling in a second. Porzingas trade really killed them
Of all the re-signings that was the only bad one. Not horrific as it's basically a 2 year 9 mill per deal. However with Mitch here rather than bringing back a a zero on offense as a backup we should have looked for a floor spacer.

Don't disagree that the Knicks need a big man who can hit a jump shot. Can't say that I miss Porzingis though.
Vucevic is nothing much defensively, and the Williams injury is killing them at PF. They will trade for/get on a buyout an inside player or two by the time the playoffs start.

It wasn't that bad if you look at in the context of Robinson never being healthy. Knicks need a defensive presence in the middle. Noel provides that and is a solid backup to Mitch.
I agree with his offensive production though.
I'm fine with depth. Guys get injured. We have one of the deeper rosters in the league.
Having said that - the Bulls have one of the most potent small ball games in the NBA.
They have a number of long-limbed defenders who play D with 48 minutes of intensity.
You can try to attack them inside but you have to first get the ball in there and then they converge. Many a team has forced the ball inside only to suffer a plethora of turnovers that lead to fast break points against.
What has occasionally worked against the Bulls is an effective inside-out game where the opposing Big passes out to the three-point line and the long ball converts on a high percentage.
Do the Knicks hit a high percentage of their threes consistently?

Knicms habe had success in the paint in the first 2 games, Randle has also passed very well out of the double in both games..
Knicks hit 37% of their 3s as a team
I don't see an effective penetrator on the Knicks with the occasional exception of Rose.
Bulls guards Lonzo Ball and Caruso are terrific defenders that cause a lot of turnovers and more than that are just downright disruptive in gumming up the opposing offensive plays.
Can Rose provide 30 or minutes of turnover-free penetration?
Can Knicks hit their average 37% on three's?
I know Thibs is famous for his Defense but I think the Bulls D is what will decide this game. Bulls are relentless on D.
Bulls move the ball well and unselfishly on O. They maintain patience in moving the ball and hitting the open man. Lonzo Ball and Caruso are very effective offensive complements to Vucevic, DeRozan, and Lavine.
Really looking forward to this game as it bears some semblance to the old Knicks-Bulls rivalry.

That's actually not how the Knicks play offense at all. The offense runs through Randle in half court. He played well in the first game in terms of distributing the ball - only Caruso really tripped him up. We'll see if he does as well this time. IIRC there was a lack of rim protection for CHI but it wasn't just point guards who could exploit it.
Shifting Kemba out and Burks in will have an interesting impact. RJ did well on defense in the first matchup but whomever he wasn't guarding went off on Fournier. Now Burks provides a better defender and more switchability. It's a little different from that perspective.
Should be a really fun game. The team who defends best will probably win, IMO.
Ball is not going to get into the paint, he is a 3 and d, Fournier will most likely guard him..
Knicks can switch 1 through 4....
Knicks offensively spread you out and run thriugh randle, you can double him if you want but the Knicks habe 2 knock down shooters and rj who can get hot from 3..
Then off the bench you have the guys who are going to change the pace with Rose, Quick and Toppin..

You admitted RJ is a good defender! You're coming around! (Kidding.)

Jeez. Reading this from a Bulls fan it’s apparent the Knicks may as well not even show up. Oh well. On to the next one…
Do we see Toppin and Randle or will Gibson and Mitch split the minutes?

He doesnt realize the Knicks have thr best defensive rating in the league without Kemba and 9th best offensively...

Sims is out sick as well
Because he knows his team sucks and he has no shot and his body is starting to fail him a little bit..
Calling it now if the Knicks make a bkg trade and have roster spots open the Lakers will trade Melo to New york
Interesting!
I think he started a game last year but i could be wrong
Wow. That's 3 more than I thought, Haha. But who can forget the immortal Elfrid?

yeah i dont remember the 3 games
That bodes well for the Bulls
This season's team is the first winning team Lavine has ever played on and he is loving it
agree with this
Rose is playing like he bet on the Bulls tonight.
Brought everyone back, added meta after a buyout, and then he ended up washed and the team missed the playoffs by 1 game..
This team feels like that, have a couple of great wins you think ok they got this and then lay an egg the next game..
Former Wizard 1st rounder. Bulls got him in that three way trade that involved Theis. Only 22 or so. Averaged 10 points for Wizards one year
Come on, now. The Knicks have taken way more free throws than the Bulls. If anything, the Bulls have been getting screwed by the officials. /eyeroll
Because even Thibs knows they aren’t winning this game. Knox is the white flag.
shouldnt even come out after half, an embarrassment..
Id rather watch Kbox chuck up 3s for 24 minutes
They read their press clippings, they are good enough where they will win games like in atlanta to keep them around 500 but they wont be consistent or win multiple games in a row..
They think they can just walk onto the court and compete, then they will have a comeback because they are down and cut it to 4 or 6 and we fall for it and say ok maybe they found something..
and then the next game its the same shit..
Knicks free throws disparity is the only reason this is still a game
17 fts to 10
Refs definitely after the knicks again….. ooops It’s for them… never mind

To be fair when i wrote that Taj just got thrown out off of two caruso flops
🥰
The Bulls are shooting in the high 50's because we are not playing a lick of defense and they know exactly how to exploit it. I generally love what Leon Rose has done but we should have signed DeRozan. We don't have one guy in the starting lineup that can create their own shot like him. DeRozan and Ball. The Bulls had the off season we should have. Instead we brought the whole gang back plus Kemba and his cooked knees and a one dimensional streak shooting wing
Do the Bulls have any picks? they dont have a 2nd until 2027
Somebody got up in the locker room and said something..
Maybr the fournier and randle arguing was a good thing
Quote:
I don’t think it’s hyperbole at this point to call them championship contenders, particularly if they deal for another big guy. Two guys I have in mind are Christian Wood and Pascal Siakam. Both are 26/27, so a bit older for where those teams are. The Bulls could put a package around Williams and White and picks (plus Jones and Brown if needed for salary for Siakam)
Do the Bulls have any picks? they dont have a 2nd until 2027
They have Blazers pick from Markannen (lottery protected). Next 1st rounder they could deal woul be 2025
its so inconsistent its maddening, 1 minute they let it be ohysical then they call ticky tack
such a clutch player and now i need 1 more 3
Cant keep coming out flat..
Yes he fucked up at the end but why would you want to trade a 2nd team all nba player? wouldnt you want to pair him with that player?
After Denver a lot of winnable games coming, but got to get the saturday game..
would be 3-3 through a tough stretch of games which i can live with but have to get the game saturday
and Memphis doesnt have Morant
a name i would keep an eye on is Theis in Hoiston, capable big, can defend, rebound and can knock down a wide open shot
That is what I expected for the entirety.
I think Mitch's putting-on-weight plan was a mistake. He's bigger now, but he's slower now too.
Quote:
Vucevic really exploited him tonight. Not sure he's worth what his contract is going to be. At the least, we need a different kind of big out there.
I think Mitch's putting-on-weight plan was a mistake. He's bigger now, but he's slower now too.
And he's still always hurt
Yep 30-12 and 6 on 14-21 shooting. Don't even bother trading him just cut him.
Then the Knicks would of been able to come back with Quick and Rose and they could of kept the pace..
Knicks slowed down and Derozan killed them in half court
Free SGA.

Knicks really screwed the pooch not signing DeRozan.
Quote:
its another body to throw at Derozan and Lavinr and they just didnt have enough wings, the starters to start the 3rd did a great job to get back into the game but they got tired when they cut it to 1..

I wanted Derozan and Lowry, but just Derozan with this makeup i dont think he is a good fit..
The reason it works so well with the Bulls is because him and Lavine are the only 2 real scorers on the Bulls..
Vucevic is a spacer, shooter at this point and he is embrscing that role..
Lonzo is 3 and d, Caruso is basically 3 and d..
They also dont have a lot of dpeth so Donavon has to keep Derozan or Lavin on the court at all times
The Grizzlies beat the Thunder by an NBA record 73 points!!!
What do you give up for him? i havnt watched enough of him to even know what i would give up
Some guy I never heard of on the Memphis bench was +52 over 28 minutes
It's like the opposite of having Eli Manning. When we had Eli it just really felt like we always had a chance to win because we knew he was so clutch when the pressure was on late in the game. With Randle I feel the opposite. I just feel like we're going to lose every single game because he's going to fuck it up. Ball needs to be in the hands of Rose or Burks in those late game situations.
Alright rant over.
But IDK. Maybe he just needs to keep putting the work in. Last year he became a much better player but it was without fans in the stands. Maybe he just needs to keep working tirelessly and someday he'll be able to replicate that good play in crunch time situations.
We know he is not a number 1 but without him last night knicks arent even close..
It’s hard to win games when you have to consistently work your way back after digging yourself a big hole. That’s a team issue, not just a Randle issue. Nobody ever confused Randle with a superstar player but the fact is that the Knicks are better with him than without him.
But they were also shorthanded, no Rj ehich was big on the defensive end and Gibson getting tossed 3 minutes into him entering the game left them with 1 center..
They basically had no bench.. they had 2 guys off the bench play meaningful minutes..
I give them credit for coming back but they need to come out saturday and not play like they are easing into the game
2. The Bulls had Lavine to close. We had Randle who came up small at the very end.
I didnt like Thibs taking out Rose with 5 minutes left, maybe he was tired, but he brought him back with 2 minutes left..
I would of went small with Toppin and Randle, amitch was gassed and couodnt get out on vucevic

Thibs seems to like to do that with Rose. Takes him out around the 6-8 minute mark of the 4th and brings him back at around 2 or 3. I agree on Toppin. Our defensive rebounding took a huge hit when he wasn't in there last night and he would do a much better job on Vuc. Since the foot injury Mitch simply doesn't have the quickness and burst to recover on those Vuc 3's the way Obi does.
Probably take Rj and Mitch and cap filler maybe a future 1st..
Brogdon, Fournier, Burks, Randle, Turner
bench: Rose, Quick, Grimes, Toppin, Gibson
You keep your dynamic duo off the bench with Toppin..
Turner slides right in as a rim protector but spreads the floor offensively, Brogdon controls the offense, plays good defense, is big and strong just like Thibs likes

Endorsed.
agreed its a weird group. Turner seems to not translate his high rating to wins (KAT similar ish? in that sense).
they are in a good spot to blow it up and rebuild- and probably should- peopel value their bigs- and brogdon has value-

Would do that in a heartbeat
I dont get it, you look at them on paper and they should be top 6 and its not like they have terrible players on their bench..
I could see them building around Levert, Duarte and Sabonis..
Whats funny is Derozan was considered a career loser that came up small in big spots and you couodnt win with him as your 1st or 2nd player
Your right, damnit forgot about the extension
Because Tatum and Brown dont move the ball, they worry about their scoring at thats it
still can't believe we traded a pick for Perry. Maybe we can get the rights to some Euro who will never play in the NBA for him...
Hope he feels rejuvenated and starts shooting like he can.
Quote:
Scott Perry among candidates to be considered in Portland (connection to Chauncey from Detroit days). A lot of Knicks reporters have connected those dots too. Hope he gets that job.

Save us from a bad Melo deal. Got us a decent Porzingis deal. Signed Randle. Can't complain compared to his predecessors.
Apparently he was a terror to work with.

With Burks, Fournier and Randle, Rj should attack the paint constantly, plenty of space

Yes, but he also needs to shoot better. Need the 3pt% from last year. I'm hopeful.
Randle looks to be coming out of it, not settling for 3s as much
People in his inner circle want him to give Philly a look but his eyes are on New York
I think that's light. Would have to be at least one #1 pick going back to them IMO. Unless Mitch really starts playing well. But even then, you wonder what his value is considering he's a UFA this summer.

True plus pacers might be looking for more wings and play sabonis at the 5
