Is Gallant the next coming of Mike Keenan

Bigmoose53 : 12/2/2021 12:40 pm
Took NY Rangers teams that lacked a "traditional" hockey identity, and made the decisions to instill their coaching vision immediately. Overall physical team toughness, sticking up for each other, taking the body, aggressive-effective fore-checking system, and not going into a shell when ahead.

Gallant has also made the personnel decisions needed to implement his vision. Now all he needs is a dominant face-off player (a la Keenan's MacTavish) to have a more complete product. I see a lot of similarities to the Keenan experience.

I know it's early, but so far the new look Rangers pass the eye test!

What do you think?

Can you imagine if Rangers still had Buch and Tony D?

Tony D needed a coach like this. I bet you if Gallant had been there all along, all that nonsense would never have happened.

Trading Buch (8 goals, 8 assists) for a second rrounder still kills me

Gallant is close to the exact opposite of Keenan. Second, let's see how the season plays out over the next two months. I predicted at the start of the season that the Rangers would be considered one of the four or five best teams in the league by mid-season. They achieved that faster than I thought they would.

Finally, Tony D was a cancer. No coaching change was going to change that. Adam Fox makes Tony irrelevant. We are better off without him.
