A strained neck . . . A STRAINED NECK??!!

VaGman : 12/3/2021 8:25 pm
I’m not a doctor, and I am in no way questioning Daniel Jones’ toughness. He’s proven that. But a strained neck? Really?
LT played with a torn shoulder, Bavaro had a broken jaw, Simms was always hurt and played, Eli played and won a Super Bowl with a partial shoulder tear and DJ has a STRAINED NECK!!! Jack Youngblood played a Super Bowl with a broken leg.
Get a massage, take some muscle relaxers, TAKE THE NEEDLE!!
We’ve got a shot at the playoffs, our qb who NEEDS to keep playing is out with a strained neck?!???
What has happened to the NFL?!??!!
I know I’m sounding like the old man I am, but a STRAINED NECK??!?
I’ll shut up now. Thanks for letting me vent.

The first thing I thought of
allstarjim : 12/4/2021 12:40 am : link
when they said he could miss the season, yet they're calling it a "strained neck," was spinal stenosis, which David Wilson had and retired from football over. If you recall, Wilson could've played with the stenosis but another neck injury could've paralyzed him, so he obviously made the right choice.

I'm really hoping that's not what it is for Daniel's sake, but just saying that if you read between the lines, that kind of diagnosis wouldn't be a surprise to me.
If the team wants to move on from Jones,

I don't understand what they think they're going to move on TO.

Next year will almost certainly be make or break for Judge. The team really needs to take a significant step forward, or he's going to be out of here. Knowing that, what QB is going to shake loose in FA or the draft that Judge is going to want to roll the dice with, risking his job security?
what we know is that DJ has a neck injury. Is that a muscle, nerve or
plato : 12/4/2021 1:26 am : link
bone injury we don’t have a clue because we haven’t seen the imaging studies and other studies. it’s almost certainly more than a muscle strain/tear and may we’ll be a FX part of a vertebrae ( most likely) an injury to the brachial plexus or other nerve injury, severe soft tissue injury to supporting tissues of cervical spine, etc etc.

the medical staff knows and has determined it’s probably a longer term than 2 -3 week injury.mWe’ll never know unless there is a big leak. Giants go forward with # 2 and 3 qb for at least next several weeks.
it is what it is

and we citizens dont have all the facts

Good Luck to Glennon. Of the two, I think Glennon is the better pocket passer. There career QB stats are near identical

We will see tomorrow

I don't think this is what is happening, but I wouldn't completely discount it.

No Eric... if you want to go there, then why not say it is an excuse to give him another year because we did not have a chance to evaluate him without a shitty OC? I mean... if you want a conspiracy theory.
When the bullets start flying in a real game it's a lot different

than practice with a red shirt. DJ is for sure a tough dude and if is not medically cleared to play that's it no conspiracy theories.
I'm sure the Giants coaches would like for him to finish the last 6 games as the starter at QB. Regardless of his play this year IMHO DJ gives the Giants the best chance to win. No disrespect to Mike Glennon.
Isn’t

It more likely that the Giants know Jones is the QB next year barring something unforeseen and don’t want to risk long term injury for short term gain in a season unlikely to go anywhere?
The more I think about this
Hammer : 12/4/2021 7:20 am : link
the more I consider that the coaching staff might feel that Jones is shell shocked, his confidence is shattered and any further play with the current offensive line would just make things worse.

It could very well be likely that the Giants are trying to avoid "Derek Carr syndrome".

Just a thought based a thin air...
For what its worth
SteelGiant : 12/4/2021 8:08 am : link
The whole Sidney Crosby concussion situation was a lot like this. He actually had a broken neck that was missed when he got his concussion. In reality he had a small neck fracture that was contributing to his symptoms and a took a while for specialists to figure it out.

It's very possible that DJ injured his neck in the Cowboys and it was undiagnosed and last game it made it worse.
What if the Giants magically find a functional o-line and Barkley

Actually plays like 2018 Barkley? Could Glennon take them to the playoffs?

Now that I think about it, any one of these three “what ifs” is equally unlikely. So I guess the odds of all 3 events happening is about 1 in 100,000.

Everyday they don't never come correct
You can ask my man right here with the broken neck
He's a witness to the job never bein' done
He would've been in full effect

So wait, you think them wanting to hide Jones for the rest of the year so they can bring him back next year is as plausible as Eric’s comment? Jeezus man.

Im not sure why you guys are giving Eric such a hard time. His scenario would actually fit right into the operation that we’ve witnessed for the past decade. Would you really be all that surprised if this were true?

I’m not saying it’s true or that I believe it, but I could absolutely see a scenario where the coaching staff is extremely frustrated with Jones’ production, or lack thereof and would like to see if another QB can spark the offense before it’s too late. I guarantee you that the staff and front office see the Giants basically a game out of a wild card and still view this season as on going. And there is no way Mara is going to allow them to potentially embarrass Jones by benching him. He’s been a good soldier. So the simple solution all parties is to over play an injury. It gives them a free shot to evaluate the offense with someone else running it and still allows them to go back to Jones easily enough if Glennon/Fromm stink up the joint. Which is likely.

Again, I’m not saying this is what’s happening but I’d be lying if I said it hasn’t crossed my mind.
Oh please
Matt M. : 12/4/2021 12:01 pm : link
He returned before he should last year from his hamstring injury. He returned too soon this year with the concussion. Jones may have a ton of questions, but his toughness is not one of them.

This seems like it was not his call. I won't question it if an NFL doctor won't clear him. It's not as simple as a strained muscle. We can only hope it will not linger or prove a long term concern.
