No offense but why were you guys saying earlier that if you got a rematch with Cinci you think you'd definitely win? Didn't Cinci put a pretty good beat down on ND when they won that game??
I think ND would win if the two met tomorrow. ND was @ the start of the season; new OL, splitting QBs, etc...hell, ND almost lost to freaking Toledo in mid September. ND right now is a MUCH, MUCH better team in December than it was a couple of months ago. We'll never know & the Bearcats deserve to make the CFP.
with Harbaugh calling passes in a game that's already won
Harbaugh always has been and always will be a jerkoff.
Flea flicker up 25 in a game where Ferentz punted waving the white flag.
It's like Joel Klaat isnt even watching the game. "When you're just handing the football off like this its fair game"
Did he miss the 3rd and 4 throw from the 20 yard line into the endzone? Or the flea flicker on 1st down up 25?
It's a scumbag move from a scumbag coach. Great year but winning with class has never been a thing for him, all the way back to Stanford
Didn’t you always rush to defend Harbaugh when he coached San Fran? It seems I remember you always gushing about him because your brother is a Niners fan and whenever someone on BBI had something negative to say about Harbaugh at the time you’d always push back and tell everyone how awesome he was. I don’t remember you saying these things about him when he was running your brothers favorite team. Though I suppose I could be misremembering
Perhaps Harbaugh should have put in his backups when it was 28-3, but the hate on Harbaugh seems disproportionate here. It’s not like he texted his players goodbye
To say Bama and Georgia are the two best teams in the nation. They have been 1-2 for a lot of the year. However that doesn’t mean they should automatically avoid each other in the semi final either. It showing direct bias towards a conference.
Bama did have the best victory but they struggled against many teams this year (Auburn, Arkansas, Florida…). So while they were absolutely awesome this week… so was Michigan the last two weeks.
I don’t think Michigan would have a chance against either, but they probably deserve the 1 seed for their work for the entire year. Remember their only loss came on a very controversial game where the Big 10 admitted the officials royally screwed them basicaly all game.

I agree. ND is a much different(better)team then when they met two months ago. And Michigan is a much different team then one month ago.
I still put Cincy in at #4 because at 12-0 they deserve it and they did beat ND which definitely counts.

Michigan hasn't been crushing it this year though. If we are going by that line of thinking then doesn't the games against Nebraska, Rutgers and Penn St. effect things too?
I don't understand how anyone can come away with this thinking that Michigan would lose to Bama but somehow has earned the #1 seed more than them, doesn't compute.

Cause when you’re doing rankings - you take into consideration a years worth of playing. And while Bama May have been a sleeping Giant, they were not a Giant all year.
My point is that they shouldn’t just separate the two SEC teams from playing each just because they just played. Which you know will be a considerations.
And I just looked at Georgia’s schedule. My god - might be the easiest schedule I’ve ever seen. Clemson sucking ass this year hurt them obviously. But my god. No Ole Miss, Miss St, A&M.

I actually think Michigan has a chance in the playoff. No Metchie for Alabama, plus they are getting Georgia in the midst of a QB controversy
in Georgia's second home stadium. And convincingly. They are undisputed #1.
Cincinnati is a great team. Ridder is now a first round QB. He's far better than either QB for Georgia or Michigan. But they will be #4 because of the conference concern.
So Michigan/Georgia are either 2 or 3.
I have no doubt, btw, if Cincinnati did get seeded higher and played Michigan they would win by a TD. They match up very, very well.
There was a tweet with video catching Harbaugh on his headset
saying “we have a chance to be the #1 seed” late in the 4th quarter. So that explains why Michigan was still throwing the ball in a game they already won. Confirms what I was thinking last night
The culture Saban has built is one of the greatest in team sports history.
Gold standard for the use of booster money. They've done a great job taking advantage of the Newton rule and buying players from all over.
Who cares about this phoney-baloney playoff system. The idiot sportswriters didn't like the coaches poll and beat the drum for a "playoff", the NCAA saw a tv money bonanza, and here is the result- the Cornpone Invitational. Yawn

However Saban/Alabama gets the talent, Saban's ability to develop, motivate and coach that talent is the bigger story.
He's changed with the times and has a record that is unmatched.
The other stuff about the playoffs, money, etc is a different topic. I love a tournament over the BSC system of exhibition bowl system and hope the go to 8 or 12.
Going to 8 doesn't dilute anything. It actually helps the smaller conferences, which is a great thing. And will likely lead to auto bids for the bigger conference champions.

Michigan had zero chance to be the #1 seed after Bama hammered Georgia. And the committee was actually watching the games together, they weren't going to make them #1 because they ran the score up on Iowa.
--Alabama beating Georgia the way they did, plus their body of work in the SEC made them #1 going into the playoff, and outweighed Michigan's performances the last two weeks. Committee had a "strong consensus" on this. (Agree with committee)
--Said that they don't talk about setting up potential rematches of conference championship games in the semifinals
--Cincinnati is the last undefeated team that just won a conference championship. Won at ND. There was a strong consensus that Cincinnati was #4
--No discussion on what would have happened if Oklahoma State won and there was a controversy between them and Cincinnati for #4

It will be:
Alabama
Michigan
Georgia
Cincinnati
Dec 31 will be a fun day of college football

May switch Bama and Cincy, but the final effect is the same. This seems fair, and sets up for Semi's of Mich-GA and Cincy-Bama.

should be interesting games. I also think that's how it comes out.
Bama
Michigan
Georgia
Cincy.
I don’t like leap frogging a team that beat a top 15 team but if the committee does it, Cinn should be at 3.
Nothing wrong with the rematch here.

So what's not to like?
Why does that matter?
Just make it 8 teams and be done with it.

It matters because an independent Notre Dame can go 10-2 and be the #8 seed every year if they remain independent in an 8 team playoff scenario
I think it dilutes. And it’ll be a slippery slope.

I want 8
The 5 auto bids from each conference, provided the conference champion is a 2 loss team or better
An auto bid for the best non-Power 5 team
The best two at-larges

Not getting your logic. They still need to be ranked. So if they join Conference US or MAAC that is good enough?

Join a Power 5 conference
The end
Michigan had zero chance to be the #1 seed after Bama hammered Georgia. And the committee was actually watching the games together, they weren't going to make them #1 because they ran the score up on Iowa.
#2 Michigan vs. #3 Georgia
No surprises there
For one if they join a conference their schedule most years would be much easier and sometimes significantly easier.
Anyone who wants ND to join a conference better pray the playoff never expands, because if it does they aren't joining a conference ever.

The geography of these bowl games suck though. Favors southern teams.
Michigan will need better QB play because Georgia’s secondary isn’t good.

Georgia has a good secondary actually.
But they got exposed yesterday due to the last of pass rush.
Marrone did a great job getting the Bama OL fixed after the Auburn fiasco.

I think they are but Georgia has a QB problem right now. Think they'll have to switch to JT Daniels to have a legit shot in the playoff

I'm going to cheer like hell for Cinncinnati. I don't expect them to win, but I'd love to see them make a great national showing.

Same. Don't really know why, but I spend a lot of time in Cincy years ago, for business, and I'm just rooting for them. It's a serious sports town.
Gun to head...I think it is 'Bama-UGA rematch.
I like that matchup for ND.
