This is his last year with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Is this like a situation where you find out your girlfriend is gonna break up with you and you end it first?

Interesting. I havent watched him play this season but he looked close to done last year. Does he have enough left that someone else would sign him.
Do the Steelers have their guy for the future or will they move up this coming draft which helps us.
When I watch him it looks like he’s going to get seriously injured out there. Not a very graceful exit. And things don’t look like they’re going to get much better for Pittsburgh these last 5 weeks.

Would the Giants listen if the Steelers ask about getting DJ?
Next year is going to be as bad or worst than this year for the Giants, with no real cap room for FA's, and the inevitable adjustment for rookies. It would be a trade that would help both teams, especially if the Giants can get a 1st for DJ.
And yes, I think that's possible (look at what Sam Darnold cost for the Panthers). The Steelers are looking at this year's QB class, and are probably underwhelmed.

With the kind of career that Ben had with the Steelers I have to assume that if he was not in the team's plans for next season, the Steelers would have let him know privately at the end of this season,so that Ben had the option to retire.
I don't think Ben had to rush to "break up" with the Steelers before they dumped him.
The Roster is sound, though not nearly as loaded as in the past. I'm sure the transition to a successor will be accomplished smoother than we did with Eli's. Think it's about talent surrounding the QB, the coaching and the ability of the QB to execute and improvise. Believe the Steeler situation would be attractive to QB's changing venues. I could see a Wilson or Garappolo doing well there.
and yet you want to trade him. Do you think Giants management can find a franchise quarterback in the draft in 2022 or 2023? There may be one, but will the Giants recognize him? It ain't easy. Looks like Belichick found one and the Jets didn't, although I admit it's early.

Doubt it. He's shot.

Rodgers, Wilson, Watson?
Unless Haskins is still there.😉

And Steelers clearly do not have their future QB on the roster. They will be shopping for a QB.
Rogers would make the most sense for them.

You are out of your mind if you think Jones would net that in a trade. If so, they should do it right now before Pitt comes to their senses.
