Say We're Picking 5th and 6th

Anakim : 12/5/2021 4:35 pm
Jaguars
Texans
Lions
Jets

Then us and the Bears. I'll predict that the Seahawks have a better record than both us and the Bears.

Say this is what happens:

Lions - Matt Corral
Jaguars - Kayvon Thibodeaux
Texans - Aidan Hutchinson
Jets - Evan Neal

What would you do?

For me, without knowing the extent of his health, I'd go with CB Derek Stingley Jr. at 5. I do worry about the injury history, but he may have had the best freshman season by a CB in CFB history. His sophomore season wasn't as good as his freshman season, but he was banged up throughout. He has true lockdown potential.

Then it gets a bit interesting: At 6, Kyle Hamilton, Ickey Ekwonu and George Karlaftis III would all be in the conversation. I'd probably go Ickey, but man oh man it would be so difficult passing on a unicorn like Kyle Hamilton or an EDGE guy like Karlaftis.

this point, if we are starting over, act like no one we have is on the roster. Take the guys who you think will be here for a decade.
This will not be a popular opinion
SJGiant : 12/5/2021 4:38 pm : link

BUT I would trade the Number 5 and either a second or third pick (depending on what the draft trade chart says) to the number two or three pick IF Hutchinson is there. We need a premier player.
Cool another skill player in the draft

JFC kill me now.
Tough decision
jeff57 : 12/5/2021 4:40 pm : link
But I’d probably take Devin Lloyd and Ekwonu. Passing on Hamilton and Stingley.
If you don’t get a starting OL in the first
BillT : 12/5/2021 4:40 pm : link
Next year’s OL and the offense will look just like this year. And if you don’t get a pass rusher in the first, next year’s pass rush will look just like this year’s. And if you think that’s picking need over talent, so be it.
Ekwonu and Cross
youngd1974 : 12/5/2021 4:41 pm : link
Fix this disaster of an O-line. probably not likely. So one of the two and Hamilton. Trade back if possible and grab an edge maybe is another option.
Trade Back
Arkbach : 12/5/2021 4:43 pm : link
for OL talent unless there is a stud at #6.
OL
hitdog42 : 12/5/2021 4:46 pm : link
is not a force this year- there is talent there across the line-- irrespective of position an OL will be at the top of board -- if its a C then fking take him, if its a OT ok thats great too- but the big issue pressure wise has been on the inside.
take the 2 best players that you think will be here a decade
markky : 12/5/2021 4:49 pm : link
and if we suck next year, fine. we have to accept that we're the expansion team Jaguars at this point.

i hope the 2 best players are big men. that would be ideal.

but don't reach for a QB, don't reach for Erick Flowers, don't panic and pick Cedric Jones. just build the team the right way. it's likely the OL will suck next year anyway. no single rookie is going to change that.
Ojabo is the real deal if Hutchinson isn’t there
Earl the goat : 12/5/2021 4:51 pm : link
And we could trade back down to get him and more draft capital
You take the 2 best players
larryflower37 : 12/5/2021 4:52 pm : link
Regardless of position. This team has no difference makers right now.

Exactly.. agree..
it’s best player available at important positions
hassan : 12/5/2021 6:11 pm : link
don’t overthink this, idea they need to draft for o line to need to try to salvage anything on the team currently is bunk. No one on this tesm will be here when they get back to being good again. at least the attitude i have.
Have to build the oline
Simms11 : 12/5/2021 6:12 pm : link
and get a true Edge or Pass Rusher. Solidify the trenches first a d foremost, then maybe you look at TE, RB, WR, etc

Then that's Stingley and Hamilton. But Hamilton is a S and as good as he is, I don't think you can justify taking a S (albeit a versatile one) that high.

So I'd be more than happy with Derek Stingley Jr. and Ickey Ekwonu.
Texas A&M G/T Kenyon Green would be a nice get.
Vin_Cuccs : 12/5/2021 6:58 pm : link
Plug him at LG next to Thomas and hopefully start to rebuild this line. Absolutely worth the pick.

Might be a bit high, but I love NC State OT Ikem Ekwonu as well. I’d take him that high. I think he’ll end up moving up draft board in the pre-draft process anyways.
For Day 1 and Day 2, I don't pick anyone
Bill in UT : 12/5/2021 9:24 pm : link
under 240 pounds. If there's a premier DB who fits that, go for it
1st two
GoDeep13 : 12/5/2021 9:54 pm : link
Picks need to be OL. If we can’t get Neal we go Ekwonu and Green. Both versatile enough to play inside and outside.
I would trade down
giantstock : 12/5/2021 10:07 pm : link
Try to get as many picks as I can for late 1st round to early 3rd.
--------------

But if no trade I would take in general - of course they have to be near the value.

1st pick- Edge-- George Karlaftis
2nd pick - OT - Charlie Cross
3rd pick - OG - Zion Johnson
4th pick- OC-- Alec Lindstrom/Jarret Patterson
5th pick - Edge - Arnold Ebiketie
6th pick - TE - Jahleel Billingsley/Cade Otton
7th pick - TE - Charlie Kolar
8th pick - ILB - Ellis Brooks
9th pick - DT - DJ Dale
10th pick- OT - Dylan Wonnum

You know, up until today, I was able to get Aidan Hutchinson pretty consistently. This was a draft I put together two days ago:
1st Round
Pick No. 6: DE Aidan Hutchinson, Michigan
Pick No. 25: OG Ikem Ekwonu, NC State (received from trading pick no. 22 with Cowboys, used to draft S Daxton Hill)

2nd Round
Pick No. 39: LB Brandon Smith, Penn State
Pick No. 56: OT Abraham Lucas, Washington State (received from trading picks no. 7, 56, and 87 with Bills, as well as 2nd round and 5th round for 2023; Bills drafted CB Kaiir Elam)

3rd Round
Pick No. 74: TE Jake Ferguson, Wisconsin
Pick No. 91: RB Zonovan Knight, NC State (received from trading pick no. 70 with Titans; Titans drafted TE Jaheel Billingsly)
Pick No. 94: DT Matthew Butler, Tennessee (received from trading pick no. 87 with Packers)

4th Round
Pick No. 108: LB Henry To'o To'o, Alabama
Pick No. 135: OC Ricky Stromberg, Arkansas (received from Packers trade)
Pick No. 139: DT John Ridgeway, Arkansas (received from Cowboys trade)

5th Round
Pick No. 148: DE Arnold Ebiketie, Penn State
Pick No. 168: TE Charlie Kolar, Iowa State

6th Round:
Pick No. 186: S Sterling Weatherford, Miami of Ohio

7th Round:
Pick No. 226: WR Alec Pierce, Cincinnati

I've gotten up to 17 picks with PFN at one time. Though my stpick was 38. But I can get/ you can too get about 14/15 picks.

But I'm with ya-- if Hutchinson is available- he wasn't on the latest I did- I'd go for him. And Brandon Smith is awesome. You know on PFN back in Oct he was about late 3rd round or 4th round? I used to make sure I'd get him in early 3rd. And Devin Lloyd was ranked about 44. SO I always gout him before that.
Hamilton
Mook80 : 12/5/2021 11:05 pm : link
is the perfect safety for todays NFL. You can't pass on him if the 2 top edge rushers are gone. He can cover anyone on the field is excellent in run support and a very smart player. His range at his size is incredible

Yes you can. "The perfect" position player doesn't exist other than Lawrence Taylor.
PFN is fun
BrianLeonard23 : 12/6/2021 9:42 am : link

8. Evan Neal OT Alabama
18. Tyler Linderbaum C Iowa
38. Kenny Pickett QB Ptt
43. Sam Williams EDGE Ole Miss
55. Arnold Ebiketie EDGE Penn State
69. Justyn Ross WR Clemson
76. Henry To’o To’o LB Alabama
93. Jerome Ford RB Cincinnati
111. John Metchie III WR Alabama
118. Jalyn Armour-Davis CB Alabama
184. Sterling Weatherford S Miami Ohio
190. Grant Calcaterra TE SMU

Lion's aren't taking QB if they stay at 1. Their defense is atrocious, they will take the game wrecker.
Lions should stick with Goff
