Where do the Giants go from here? 3 hypothetical options:

Sean : 12/5/2021 5:18 pm
Option 1
Run it back. Keep the entire operation together - this includes either keeping Gettleman or elevating Abrams. Chalk up the year to injuries. If you are in this camp, you still believe in Jones. This option likely includes picking up Jones’ 5th year option.

Option 2
Make a change at GM, but retain Judge. Go out and find a new GM, and let him build his vision. 2022 will be used to evaluate Judge and the entire roster. If Judge doesn’t do well in 2022, a new HC is then brought in to be linked entirely with the new GM. This option most likely includes bringing Jones back, but not picking up his 5th year option.

Option 3
Fire Gettleman & Judge. Bring in a new GM and HC. Trade Jones for what you can get and essentially start over from scratch.
Option 3.

Stick it into my veins. That & beer.
Option 3....
BillKo : 12/5/2021 5:21 pm : link
...let a new GM do what he wants.

No other way to do it.
Option 4
louinma : 12/5/2021 5:21 pm : link
Hire a new GM and let him decide on the Coach and GB.....
Option 3
Go Terps : 12/5/2021 5:23 pm : link
Follow that with the hiring of a consultant to educate Mara on how to operate a football team in 2021, and to assist in identifying and hiring the new GM and head coach.

Trade everyone you can for whatever you can get. The name of the game now is to strip this down to the studs. Acquire draft picks in any round and accelerate all possible cap hits within the constraints of the cap.

There is no baby to throw out with the bathwater. Throw it all out, get to a baseline, and start over. "Expansion team" would be an improvement over the current situation...that should be the short term goal. Strip it down to an expansion team.

Except for the snide comment on Mara (even if it may be needed) this is correct.

Trade Jones, Barkley, whomever but keep the DBs. They at least seem to know how to play football.

I say sign a bunch of scrubs off the street and have them take swings at Dallas and Philly players in the remaining games. Who cares about integrity? I mean I've said this time and time again, if you play like trash you should be trash.

Get in there and start a fight with a low blow.

This isn't fantasy football.

Plus there are useable players on this roster than can play a part on an eventual winning team.

Plus - even if there are players who won't be along long term - you don't simply trade away when they can help you compete today.

You want to run you team like the NBA's Sixers did - but you're dealing with 53 men not 12.

Not gonna work.

There's housecleaning, and demolishing lol......
Judge has embarrassed himself this season,
shockeyisthebest8056 : 12/5/2021 5:27 pm : link
but there’s no way that he gets fired. He’ll get one more year.

Unless Mara is completely divorced from the decision making, I doubt much changes since his terrible judgment will be used to select the next GM.
Option 3
Sammo85 : 12/5/2021 5:31 pm : link
Anything short of that leads to a waste of two more seasons.
the answer is obvious

keep players that will help you build the team. sign vets that will help you teach draft picks how to succeed in the NFL. but do it with a new GM and a professional coaching staff.

I agree with Option 4. Hire a top GM and let him do whatever he wants. If he wants #3 fine, if he wants #2 fine
I think a hybrid 2 and 3 approach is needed.....

Bring in a GM and let him decide what to do with HC and QB.

There are only a handful of usable players on this team. It's badly constructed with a lot of trash.

Unfortunately we're stuck with most of them through 2022.
Tired of the injury excuse

they happen to all team. The good ones rise above.
Option 2.5 or 4 or whatever you want to call it.
Matt M. : 12/5/2021 6:06 pm : link
New GM who hires his own HC and decides on Jones.
Option
Dave on the UWS : 12/5/2021 6:34 pm : link
“None of the above”. Until the Maras get the hell out of the way, replacing the GM, the HC, the water boy, none of it matters. And I don’t see this happening anytime soon.
The encouraging part though, is when Mara and Tisch, retire and turn the franchise over to the next generation, there will be as many as 25 dolts running things. This franchise is 100% f$&@ed!
Option 5.
FStubbs : 12/5/2021 6:36 pm : link
Hire a new GM who has final say on all personnel. Move Chris Mara and Tim McDonnell out of personnel and fire every single scout. Fire every single coach. Don't resign a single player up for free agency. Let the new GM shape the organization with no input from the Maras whatsoever. After we get through 2022 (because of the awful cap), gut the team.

It seems they've decided Tim McDonnell is the guy on the Mara side, at least.

Though if 25 heirs were fighting over the team, I think that's a scenario where the league would step in again like they did in the 70s.
Last year I thought the Giants had their HC for a long time
arniefez : 12/5/2021 6:45 pm : link
This year I can't figure out what happened to that guy or where he went. He deserves to be fired. He can't manage the game. I'm sure if we see it the players see it. To their credit the effort each week is still respectable but the Giants are losers. They know they're going to lose, Giant fans know they're going to lose and most importantly the other team knows the Giants are going to lose. They've been out scored 52-0 in the last 2 minutes of the first half this year. That's pretty impressive. I'm sure there's a mid level college that's a good fit for Judge. Maybe that's the level he belongs at.

Never mind the fact that we did just this, scorched earth, started late 18 and into 2020...

It’s about star power and coaching. We have neither.
