1) He was going to play for whoever was going to offer him the most money. He didn’t give a shit what team it was.
2)We needed a legit No. 1 receiver after the shit we rolled out last year.
I just kept hearing the media say "he wants new york"
A lot of athletes want to play in NY. Not all, but a lot of players do because it's a top media capital.
I'd also say though there are a lot of athletes that think they want to play in NY, but then realize quickly it's not for everybody. You have to have a thick skin and the level of scrutiny is often intense here.
Because Gettleman ignored WRs in the 2019 & 2020 drafts
I still like Golladay, and think he's a good WR. Probably not worth that much money, but that's the NFL these days. Most every time the ball's actually thrown to him, he catches it and makes an impact. The problem is they don't throw to him enough (haven't been), and they don't utilize his skillet (height, jump balls, down field). He was an excellent WR in Detroit...no reason he can't be here. I mean, as long as he's on the field.
After Godwin resigned with the Bucs, I wasn't keen on the remaining guys. I like Allen Robinson, but Robinson has been getting beat up playing with the NFL's worst qbs. He got franchised anyway. I think Golladay was the only worthwhile wr left in FA so of course we overpaid. I would have preferred overpaying Reddick instead
im prob in the minority, but i like KG and still think he is going to be a contributor for us. THe OL is laughable bad, but improve that position and I am excited to see

So far, it's been a horrible marriage.

Last year, we finished 31st in offense
This year, we're ranked 26th so far
So, yea, we're "better"
And now we don’t want Jones or Golladay.
GM of the Year...

He wanted New York because selling himself to Gettleman was the quickest way to get a huge contract even with few other offers.

I wanted the Giants to focus on the second tier of WRs. I campaigned for Kendrick Bourne. Pats got him for 3 yrs/$15M.
Right now he has 42 receptions, 623 yards (15ypc) and 5 TDs.
How does that sound compared to Ghost Golladay?
We need Snee and Mckenzie too
#2: Gettleman and Judge were trying to save their jobs. Mara was trying to put fans in the stand, and buy relevancy.
