I am a 36 year old man. In my 36 years on the planet, I have never seen a Quarterback worse than Mike Glennon take a snap for the New York Giants.
The 600lb corpse of Jared Lorenzen could have put up better numbers than Glennon today.
How many times did Glennon just give up on a play and chuck the ball out of bounds? It had to be at least 10 times.
Watching Mike Glennon play makes me yearn for the good ol' days when we had backups like Jesse Palmer, Geno Smith, Danny Kanell, Kent Graham and David Carr.
There are probably 700 free agent Quarterbacks out there and we have Mike Glennon. This goes to show just how BAD Gettlemen is at evaluating talent and how BAD Joe Judge is at being able to adapt the offense/game plan at all.
This offense is broken. Contrary to what some might believe, nobody is going to be consistently successful until it's torn down and rebuilt.
Yet he expects a game plan to fit and make it work?
As much as Jones struggles at times, hes in another league than MG. Anyone who had seen MG play before today knows that.
Glennon.
Glennon.
Even then, Minshew is just a stopgap. I think he'd get crushed behind this OL too
But, yeah Glennon... Not much to celebrate there.
that was funny...
But Glennon was also way too inaccurate on some fairly easy throws that even a backup should be making. He also had a decent amount of time to survey the field and missed some plays out there. And he may not be Lamar Jackson, but he also need to pull it down a few times and scramble for a few positive yards to keep ahead of the chains.
Maybe the concussion got the best of him. Not sure when it happened but he looked clueless out there sometime in 3QTR.
Next up...Jake Fromm
There were more than few familiar names here stating unequivocaly that Glennon was a better option than Jones and now that we know better, those same folks are pivoting to a new argument that bashes Jones.
Jones can be cut tomorrow for all I care but to ignore the overall problems with this team that make any discussion of the QB moot is to lose whatever credibility you may otherwise have. Which for some was very little to start with.
Conspiracy theory du jour. Sometimes QBs are signed to challenge the starter or when there isn't a clear starter on the roster. Sometimes, they're signed to back up the starter or as a place-holder until the new kid is deemed ready. We've seen examples of this over the past 20 or so years: Kerry Collins, potential starter; Kurt Warner, place-holder; then the Manning era backups. Glennon was signed as a back up, not a potential replacement for Daniel Jones. Glennon was also probably cheaper than resigning Colt McCoy. We can all agree that the state of the Giants is abysmal but inventing conspiracies like, --"ooh we know Jones stinks so let's not sign a competent back up" is really rather ridiculous.
