I understand nothing about this team is exciting nothing about this team gives us hope however let’s keep perspective. At the time the Giants lost their best lineman in Nick Gates and Shane before the season started. Before all of that there to top back ups decide to retire. Then you have all the injuries to Blake Martinez all the receivers then put all that on top of not playing anybody in the preseason and you have one big cluster fuck. Believe me I am not happy or accepting of the results because they Have three losses on last second field goals. If they were 7-5 they be right in the thick of things. Well the Giants are bad especially on offense Bit I do not believe they are far off they need some Linemen and some other play makers on the front seven and that Will make a huge difference. In terms of Barkley everyone that knows anything about sports knows the second year is when you are close to 100% so if next year is the same garbage then yes we Move on. I don’t think coming down on him a year after an ACL injury is fair. He shows a willingness to work hard and get better so I think for him next year is the year for him
Maybe he or his family still have it.
Lemieux played well as a rookie. They were fairly high on him.
On the note about the offenseive lineman getting injured, I love Gates and his approach to the game, but none of the guys we lost there were exactly pro-bowlers. We honestly need at least 3 new starters next year even with these guys coming back from injury.
Maybe he or his family still have it.
Eric, we truly have come full circle back to that time. We are now the middle aged fans remembering our glory years and wondering what happened while our kids think 2016 was epicenter of Giants fandom.. UGH..
People can blame DG for Jones but all of this stuff was set in motion with 2 stupid ideas- ELI can still play and we need to get Barkley....
Everything else around that contributes but those two pieces cemented our doom.
Barkley has not lived up to the hype-who could and is now just a shell of his former self and an injury waiting to happen (again), Eli flamed out, OBJ was shipped off (as he should have been) and all we have done since is try to convince ourselves we were just a few additions away from being back..
DG has to be the worst GM in the NFL right now and clearly the worst thing the Giants could have done when Reese was shown the door.

Was never their best Lineman. In fact he is not even close to league average. I doubt he would crack the top 60 guards in the league.

He didn't play that well, and as has often been the case, "they" were wrong to be high on him.

I don't why you guys keep repeating the same bullshit.
Firstly I believe Eli could still play. Secondly, what does that decision have to do with cementing any kind of fate that this team is in now? That was 4 years ago.
What were the options -- drafting Darnold instead of Barkley? And furthermore sitting him on a bench? OK Maybe. The assumption was Eli would have still played. Gettle basically came in here and built a shitty team.
Shurm was desperate for wins so he openly said rather than draft Darnold and have him sit ; someone like Barkley was plug and play and help this team win games. Then Jones with his running ability was presumably the same thing. Both ideas failed because both players are not very good. It has nothing to do with Eli.
Hope that someone in the org realizes that their meddling in football operations should be left to those that know football.
In any regard, it will take several years for this franchise to turn it around provided that whomever is brought in will be allowed to take the reins and follow through. If not it will save me tons of money in that I won't travel to see these clowns.

First off, you are the last person top even remotely take seriously BUT- Eli was done for where the team was at. All decisions around that were like finding an easier way to take a band-aid off instead of ripping it off. Every signing and every selection was related to that decision.

The Giants can't be trusted to evaluate their players properly or to tell the truth about how they feel about a player.

'They' had us believe they were pretty high on Peart as well.
There are a lot of BBI folks that take their frustration and turn it into anger, and then cannot be reasonable. I get it, it sucks!
Yes, Gettleman will retire and they do need to make important changes, but I would give this experiment one more year.

They were also high on Hernandez at one point. Halapio. Peart.
This franchise has been downright awful in identifying good OL play, so I really don’t care who the think highly of. Lemieux was a slight upgrade over a guy who likely won’t get a 2nd contract. The fact that he is missed tells you how bad the OL situation is.
