Aaron Robinson: An observation/question

Bill in UT : 12/6/2021 11:15 am
Robinson seems to be very good at keeping up with the guy he's covering. One thing I've notice though, which concerns me, is that he often seems to have his back to the QB and sticks his hands up reacting to the receiver. Seems like this could result in a lot of completions/PI's, albeit followed by a quick tackle. I'd like to see him look back at some point to see where the ball is. Anyone else notice this? Can it be fixed with coaching and reps? If so, I think this guy can have a great future.
It’s a good observation

Maybe It does lead to flags BUT i will say that he’s been on the covering end of about 3-5 back shoulder or even lob plays. That quez Watkins catch comes to mind and the Parker one from yesterday. In those types of plays, attacking the hands might be the best defense…getting your head around on those can cause you to run yourself out of the play. Maybe I’m wrong BBI, let me know.

I really like what I’ve seen from Robinson. Physical, doesn’t get “beat”, but has let a few catches up which if you ask me have just been a great throw and catch. Not excusing It, but he’s right there nearby to make a play.

Without training camp or Practice half the year, one of the few bright spots on the roster.
Think you want a corner

With his head turned stride for stride when further down the field. The 5-12 yard sideline plays get tough, Bradberry plays the hands on those plays as well. Could be picking up some advice from him.
If you are watching the QB

you are getting beat. He seems to be very good at playing the hands and seems not to be grabby, either. This could be a VG pick.

A very good sign that his struggles are so minimal. Rookie corners tend to go through a rough transition, and hes already proving he belongs.
so far so good

I would think...

I think so too . Think Robinson is a keeper just needs a little time to get confidence...plays hard, smart, not scared to tackle, and seems sticky in man. Secondary seems good just need that pass rush
I like him and think he's a keeper

As far as rookie DBs go, I have been pretty impressed with his play. He's definitely holding his own.
He could use a haircut.

Agreed! And as rookies go, Robinson is lightyears ahead of Apple and Baker... 2 1st RD CBs who almost never looked good.
He's a slot corner
Carson53 : 12/6/2021 12:58 pm : link
that's what he played most of the time in college.
It's just too bad he got off to late start, with his surgery.
He's playing catch up right now, tough at that position.
My bet is he will be the starting nickel next year.
Sy has mentioned playing corner is the toughest position for a rookie

So I will allow him some slack...

He seems to have the tools needed to do a decent job.

Can we finally have a little luck come our way
Should Have Drafted OL Instead

It is apparent from the Giants-Eagles game that a DB can play with his back to the QB and the ball and not get called for PI. Football in the 2020s.
