NG Question, did anyone watch last nights Den v KC game?

jvm52106 : 12/6/2021 11:17 am
During the game last night KC scored their first TD via a scramble by Mahomes. But, on the scramble as Mahomes is getting close to the goal line (running from left to right on the screen, heading towards the pylon), it sure appeared liked Patrick Surtain could have leveled Mahomes right about the goal line but he completely pulled up.

I am not saying Mahomes wouldn't have gotten in but, it sure would have been close and Mahomes would have paid for it for sure. Did anyone else think Surtain kind of played that a bit easy (maybe, a bit nice) on Mahomes?
I think Surtain could have gotten to him

before the pylon. It was obvious in real time he pulled up. Will not look good on film this morning.
Surtain was still tangled with the WR

he didn't have much momentum, probably why he didn't bother. Lazy on his part for sure, but doubt he would have gotten a good hit on him.
I said the same exact thing to my friend who is a Bronco fan

Why TF did he just pull up? He should've de-cleated him. And yes he could've I watched it more than once. Side note, I would trade our 2nd overall pick for their second round RB in a heartbeat. Kid runs angry
it was an odd play

mahomes kind of slowed up, which I think Surtain took to mean he was going to go out of bounds - but then PM just kind of glided inside the pylon.

It's, without doubt, a result of players being afraid to touch a qb, espcially a superstar qb, anywhere near the sidelines. I can't blame the corner there for losing some aggression. He should have blasted the qb there, but the league is forcing that out of their dna anywhere near the sidelines with a qb
I noticed it too

My initial reaction is that he didn't want to light up Mahomes.
At least he could have forced him out of bounds.
Why? My first thought was he was worried about potential penalty and fine? Afraid of being the guy who injured Mahomes?

If I were a Bronco's fan, I would have been pissed.
