During the game last night KC scored their first TD via a scramble by Mahomes. But, on the scramble as Mahomes is getting close to the goal line (running from left to right on the screen, heading towards the pylon), it sure appeared liked Patrick Surtain could have leveled Mahomes right about the goal line but he completely pulled up.
I am not saying Mahomes wouldn't have gotten in but, it sure would have been close and Mahomes would have paid for it for sure. Did anyone else think Surtain kind of played that a bit easy (maybe, a bit nice) on Mahomes?
It's, without doubt, a result of players being afraid to touch a qb, espcially a superstar qb, anywhere near the sidelines. I can't blame the corner there for losing some aggression. He should have blasted the qb there, but the league is forcing that out of their dna anywhere near the sidelines with a qb
At least he could have forced him out of bounds.
Why? My first thought was he was worried about potential penalty and fine? Afraid of being the guy who injured Mahomes?
If I were a Bronco's fan, I would have been pissed.
