Really, surprised to read this. Had no idea you weren’t a fan of Jones
Now you know.
You think he plays for them ever again? Or is he about to take his seat next to Dave Brown, Kent Graham, and Danny Kanell in mediocre Giant QB history?
RE: Hopefully he's played his last game as a Giant
I'm exhausted watching Jones attempt to play QB. I know he's a very nice guy and tries hard, but this is the NFL. And he's just not up to this very big job...
But, it is even more depressing that they signed Glennon. Mike Lombardi referenced on the GM Shuffle today that people in the building think Glennon can play, and that is troubling. Since Eli, what QB have they evaluated and hit correctly in their evaluation?
Fact is, Eli bailed out this franchise with his durability. The Giants wouldn’t trade for Minshew, but found Glennon an adequate back up. Depressing.
RE: Hopefully he's played his last game as a Giant
A zero star athlete out of high school who walked on at Duke and had the good fortune of being drafted due to having the same college coach as Eli Manning...I'd say it's worked out well for him.

Can’t really disagree with any of this. He had his chance. The line sucks, but come on. The team has scored less than 20 points in 8 of 12 games I saw Eric post yesterday.
And neither Glennon nor Fromm are likely to be on the team next year
All those who say get rid of Jones, who’s the QB going to be next year?
You seem very concerned about this. It could be a mid round drafted rookie or a FA stop gap. Jones does not produce and is injury prone. Look at what the WFT is doing with Taylor Heinicke, an UDFA. Being afraid of the alternative is why this franchise sucks right now.

Get off of it already minshew this and that. They played on the same team split reps 50/50. Minshew better d him by a tad ended up a third stringer on the eagles. Glennon is a good back up. I’d like to see more of him and golladay and playing without a concussion

That’s all well and good. I was searching for some names.
RE: Depends on what direction the new GM wants to go
This is such a bizarre line of reasoning. "Sure, Jones has stunk up the joint, but who else are you going to get???"
Exactly. Is it that hard to replace the lack of production over the last 2 years? For those who argue he's playing behind a shitty OL, I agree. But, I'm not willing to re-up his deal to see if a better OL will yield a better QB. At most, I give him next year. But, I am in favor, right now, to being in a guy like Minshew or Tyrod Taylor as a potential stop gap. Do I think either is great? Nope. But, I don't think either is worse than Jones either.

I think he plays again, but who knows I have a higher opinion of him, as you know😊, and I hate the thought of trading draft capital that is needed to build the O line.
I ve posted more than once, Phil Simms has stated often bad O line play is impossible to overcome, we ve seen it for too long.
Maybe you re right about Jones, I need you me more year to decide

I’m not suggesting reuping his deal, but his current one is cap friendly, and the 2023 draft will have better QBs. I like Minshew as a stop gap though.
If only Minshew had been available this past offseason
Interacting with giant fans here since its beginnings in Albany. The “Twerps” of the world were rarely so repeatably abhorent towards a player as they are to DJ. They need to deal with bjh their general unhappiness in some other way and perhaps other place.
Who cares? Jones sucks. The entire team sucks. The Chargers are going to hammer us. I just need to make sure I got enough beer to last the entire 3 plus hours of Giants 'football'.

Split reps? Minshew got hurt and Glennon replaced him. Glennon was so bad, he got benched for the immortal Jake Luton.
Minshew was on pace for a 4,600 yd, 32 TD, 10 INT season. Glennon was nowhere near that pace.

Hey Terps
Wasn't Josh Allen a zero star athlete out of high school who got his start at a Junior College where an assistant coach was married to Allen's cousin? Or am I thinking of someone else?
Derp.

Yeah cause if the Giants didn’t draft him he would have been taken….10 picks later? Jesus man, you are a complete loser. Honestly. Ragging on a guy who was a very good D1 college quarterback and 1st round draft pick after walking on. Awesome. Now let’s compare that to your miserable fucking life.
RE: Hopefully he's played his last game as a Giant
you're disgusting. Whether Jones is bad or not, you're a terrible human being. Kid could have his career ended because of the shitty giants coaches and you're cheering it on. Almost hope the giants keep losing so fans like you get zero joy out of the team.

Kudos to Daniel for being a 3 year starter as a walk-on, that is quite an accomplishment, but he was most definitely not a “very good” college QB. Averaging 2,700 yds and 17 TD’s in today’s college game is absolutely putrid.
Now I know what the excuses will be - he had no talent around him, his OL sucked (sound familiar?) - but even accepting them doesn’t make him a “very good” QB.
If the new GM has half a brain, which I know is asking a lot with Mara selecting him, next draft will be to build a foundation. We can't waste draft assets on a QB or to trade for a QB. Jones, for better or worse, gets one more year, unless they like Fromm better or can pick up a FA for a couple mill or so.
i found it on twitter, maybe op just linked it wrong. Kay also just quoted it on air

Yes, they’ll be in good hands with Mike Glennon and Jake Fromm
That’s not a ton of money for 4 year contract. That why it’s great having a good QB on a rookie deal.
Who cares about Glennon and Fromm? This season is over already anyway. The point is that it's time to figure out the plan for QB going forward.

At least Fromm would be something different.
