PSL ROI: and since Met Life Opened: Giants 88 - 116

Paulie Walnuts : 12/6/2021 5:49 pm
Based upon the cost of the PSL's The fans are not getting much in the terms of value

I could be off a bit in my numbers, but 88 wins since we moved to MetLife, Fans really got hosed by the PSL scam
Paulie, not all of us STH

judge the value of a PSL on wins and losses. I scalped tix 8-10 games a year for 20+ years while on the waitlist. When my number came up I jumped to pay $8k for 2 seats. For me, it is a fun day out with a friend or family member not to mention the guys sitting next to or near me. I live only 20 miles from the stadium so it is not a long trek to the stadium. As piss poor as the product is right now, I still look forward to spending the afternoon with "the guys" and talking football. Best investment I ever made.

The curve on the smash and grab with this PSL ponzi scheme. If you happy then you have a few nuts loose!

Metlife has seen one-UNO-postseason game between TWO franchises.

What an awful decade of NY football.
And it's the ugliest fucking stadium anywhere

Went to Bears-Giants in December '18. I don't think I'll ever go back again. The stadium is an atrocity.
Got an email the other day

From giants saying tons of fans want to upgrade seats and add more seats to their current package. They wanted to see if I was interested. I am pretty confident that not one fan wants to upgrade or add seats.
It’s not an investment.

It’s a sunk cost.

I also really still enjoy attending games, despite all the noise made by the whiny bitches here.

Ahead of the curve? PSLs were around a while and already becoming widespread in the NFL.
I know most are not Bergen County Residents

but what gets lost in the PSL argument is the fact that the stadium was 100% privately funded. The NFL contributed I believe $650 million and the remainder was via PSL's. My real estate taxes did not increase as a result of the stadium being built. What this means is that those county residents who are not football fans or do not attend games, etc. do not pay for this structure (yeah I know someone will say roadwork and other fees went up, yada, yada, yada).

Think of it this way. Only those who use the stadium have to pay for it. If you are a condo owner, whether you use the pool oftentimes does not matter, it is a fixed cost in your common charges. Would you like to pay less if you didn't use the pool? Or, if you live in a town but don't have school age children, wouldn't you love to not have to pay school taxes which are usually the largest part of your annual real estate taxes? Of course you would.

PSL's are not nearly the scourge people make them out to be. If you don't like them, don't pay for a seat that is yours for life and get to sit with people you get to know over the years. No one holds a gun to your head unlike the condo or the town you live in.

Every year the PSLs get cheaper per game
Scyber : 12/6/2021 11:25 pm : link
Yes the team has sucked. Yes you can get tickets for cheap online. But like the other poster said, going to a game is an event and is just as much about spending time with friends/family as it is the product on the field. Certainly it is much better to leave after a win (the raiders game was nice), but I can still have fun even if the Giants lose.

Don't get me wrong, I hate the losing and would prefer them winning. But I think more about passing my PSLs onto my kids than I think about the investment value.

I hear you and it's fun to go to games but barf, the product on the field is just nauseating to try and watch.

I went to a lot of those stinkers over the past few years to get out of the house .... so I would know.

Last game I attended in that stadium was the snow game against Green Bay in 2019.

Hopefully that is the last game I attend unless they make the playoffs....

2071?

Every once in a great while a thoughtful , intelligent post appears against the crapola.

Around here I suppose I’m a whinny bitches bitch. But agree about the PSL matter. It is lost on many that the stadium wasn’t funded with a tax on working people and homeowners. I think the economics are fairly settled that stadiums aren’t revenue positive for municipalities and tax payers.

These are dark days on the field but I really don’t think Mara is the boogeyman so often suggested here. He wants to win, he loves the Giants and he loves the Giants fans. Don’t like the stadium? Don’t go. And enjoy the fact that not going to the stadium won’t tax your wallet on bit.
