and now seeing teh highlights again I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, Jones is not even closer the passer, the processor and the presence that even rookie year Manning was.
I saw a few passes that when Eli throws them I was like, that play would never work now as Jones just doesn't throw quick enough and when pressed to throw fast loses all accuracy. Late 4th quarter, Eli steps back quickly adn turns to his right and immediately throws (basically) a Wr screen which almost ends upa score. Jones would never process the drop, turn and throw as fast as Eli did.
It isn't a knock a Jones the3 person, just even as a rookie you could see what Eli could do and here we are year 3 and there really isn't anything to say Jones will be a plus game winner season in and season out.. In fact you can see that he would need things to be close to perfect to see overall positive results on the field, the scoreboard and in the win column.

I continuously grow more and more impressed by Eli Manning's football IQ. Especially now watching MNF with him and Peyton. The game comes so naturally to him and he has such a no-nonsense logical yet super advanced approach to the game. The whole time he was playing he was one of the savviest QBs in the NFL and few people knew it because they just focused on fact they thought his face sometimes looked goofy.
That pass to tyree. Can’t remember exactly but I was home and like “this guys is going to be a bust I’m going record shopping.”
I go to the record store and they turn on the game and Eli throws that bomb to Tyree; the whole place erupts like “yeah!!!!!!!!” With metal heads pumping fists in the air . At that moment I knew Eli was something special
RE: THat might have been the game that sold me on Eli

For me it was the last game of his rookie year. No time on the clock he audibles to a run and Tiki scores...unselfish and ballsy. Was even more on board the following year when he had the last second throw against Denver.

Eli always knew where to go with the ball, he just had accuracy issues, sometimes throwing high. But the guy he was throwing to always seemed like the correct choice.
That's why I just didn't see it with Jones year 2 and 3. Just not showing improvement in that area, either locking on or missing the open man.

I bet Jones probably does a decent job too of breaking down film in the classroom setting. But on the field he's slow.
I'll believe that drama queen is retiring when he makes it official.
& as for Roethlisberger being a Giant...he'd probably be in year 15 of a 25 year rape sentence.
I agree.
I grew up a Steelers fan, only overshadowed by the Giants. My mother was from Latrobe and my father graduated from St Vincent's, where the Steelers still hold training camp. I went every summer. I met all the big dogs from the 70s, when they were winning Super Bowls and the Giants were winning....nothing. I have not rooted for Pittsburgh since they drafted that asshole. He should be in jail, period.
the giants to choose Ben in that draft...so much more athletic, seemed like a chance to get the next Elway.
Ben had a great career, but no doubt Eli was the better choice. His temperament was so much better suited for NYC than BR, who was thisclose to throwing his career away before turning himself around.
I always believed Eli was the best of the top 3 that draft. But, I felt like little separated him from Roethlisberger and Roethlisberger was there when we picked. But, as soon as the trade was made, I felt we ended up with the best player in the draft. I haven't looked back since. Roethlisberger had a very good career, but I'm not sure, outside of Brady, who I would have traded Eli for. Does that mean he was better than everyone else? Nope. But, he was better in NY and better with Gilbride's intricate offense.
RE: remember when he rode a motorcycle with no helmet
During the Vikings game. It’s amazing how everyone forgets the talk on radio and bbi. That’s why it’s comical when the jones haters show their faces and are adamant hes garbage. Eli had a team that’s 20x times better around him with what amounted to be a top 5 offensive line. By his second year the line was solidified. Hindsight is great. I’m sure go terps and producer were done with eli by early 2007 and wanted him along with coughlin gone
