Taking Neal at 5 when we took a Thomas at 4 two years ago is overdrafting the position. His instinct to go edge there was the right one. The CB next is a waste of a top ten pick so one mistake becomes two. If you start with the edge then you get a good OL at 8 you have addressed both top needs and you then have flexibility to go wherever the draft leads. Another OL in the second, even a CB or whatever if a really good player drops. You have a chance with a edge at 5 to get a blue chip player at a position that desperately needs a blue chip player. We got the blue chip OL already.
The defensive game is won by the front 7. Get me a middle LB who can run, blitz and tackle.
I think we need everything. There's not a position on the team that's likely to be so strong over the next 5 seasons that we can say, "I don't care how good this prospect is, we're covered at ________!"
This draft has to be about OLs and ERs. Grab a WR, an ILB and maybe an RB somewhere, but it's got to be mostly about OLs and ERs. A DB - any DB - in the first three rounds just doesn't work at all. They need 3 OLs and a Round One ER.
Neal and Thomas bookend tackles. Can never have too many good CBs. We get Edge, LB and WR early. Brian Robinson would be excellent at where he’s picked. Really nice mock.
Going with Booth is a BPA move so I understand it. I think there will be a opportunity to trade back with the Bears pick with somebody who wants to take a chance on Picket or Corral. I could then see taking Linderbaum and landing a 2nd and 4th round pick.
We have so many needs that getting Neal, Linderbaum in round 1 and coming back in round 2 possibly getting Johnson along with a Guard would be the ideal scenario.
Round 1: Neal OT and Linderbaum C
Round 2: Jermaine Johnson ER and Zion Johnson OG
Do he and Johnson fall as far as this guy thinks though?
I strongly believe in BPA, but there has to be at least 2 OLs drafted among the 5 picks in rounds 1 - 3 and probably 3 or even 4 OLs overall.

That’s pretty unrealistic. I think you’re going to be a little disappointed

Though would like to see how some of the Edge Rushers compare to the available Corners that early in draft.
If NYG rebuild strategies come to a point where Bradberry or Jackson get traded out for better value, then I would consider something like that...
