Five years from now
Like him or not the talent is there and he found the QB in Daniel.
It’s sad his plan never got a chance to be executed. I truly believe he was going to draft two stud OL in this years draft and then the Oline would be fixed (hog mollies) and Saquon, Daniel, and, KT will show just how special they are.
Next year when the Giants are in the playoffs a lot of you will be thanking Uncle Dave.
Adios, DG!
I would change the definite article "the" to the indefinite article "a".
Then you have a more accurate statement.
Drafting Barkley before the OL was fixed...to try to give Eli another run was wrong strategy....as an improved OL might have extended extended Eli career.
Much will be forgiven, if Daniel Jones turns out to be a franchise QB.....but that is running out of time.

You’re right. I should have seen it sooner.
This is definitely P Dot. The worlds biggest delusional homer DG fan boy
why are you so tough?

I'm not. I just want to see my team be good again.
Sorry you don't.
I think Reese was worse.

Not even close. DG has been the worst GM in the league for the last 4 years. Reese won a SB or two here. DG hasn't even come close to a playoff berth here.

i really do man, I do and I try to advocate that in my posts but I really think blowing it up all over again at this stage isn't going to work.
I also truly believe the top level GM's and HC's are not going to want to come here because of the constant change showing no approach for stability.
Being a Mets fan I went through that already, That's a even bigger problem then player performance.
I hope for the best but fear we are going to be right back here in 2 years.
And I am ignoring draft failures because the list is too long.
I think the op is wrong.
If Toney becomes something along with Ojulari, I guess DGs drafts got a lot better once Judge came on board.
Once Judge entered the picture, they have drafted players who have legit all pro/pro bowl potential. That was basically non existent previously.
He can't draft. He can't sign FA's. He can't do anything.
He can't draft. He can't sign FA's. He can't do anything.
Dave - that’s incorrect. Gettleman presided over many months when the Giants were comfortably at .500, in the offseason when they were 0-0.
He can't draft. He can't sign FA's. He can't do anything.
Well, according to his resume, which he was more than happy to share, Gettleman built - what? - seven super bowl teams?
However, knowing that Solder was done, Hernandez was not going to live up to being a 2nd round pick, Lemieux and Peart were question marks how in the hell could he not draft at least one OL in last year's draft? How?
End of story.
Did he really try? I don't think you can look at what he did with the OL and see, with 20/20 hindsight, any plan. Not drafting any OL in two of his four drafts. One in another. Trading for a OL who had a two year window because of his contract but not having anyone ready to take over for him. Paying Solder and keeping him despite him probably never even having an average game in four years. Paying $5m to Omaneh who didn't last one season.
That's not trying the way I see it.

there was one week in that 4 year run where the team was even .500 at some during these past 4 years.

Haha, well played.
If Daniel Jones comes back next year and somehow turns into Patrick Mahomes or Justin Herbert, we can look back with fondness at the success of the DG era
Sadly, the chances of that happening are slim and none
Not saying he has not been horrible, but if you think he is the worst in our history, then you must be a young guy. When the Maras were the GM back in the 60's-70's, it was much worse.
Imagine having the following people in your organization and letting them go...
Vince Lombardi
Tom Landry
Fran Tarkenton
Sam Huff
The there is Bill Belichick but that blame has to go to George Young.
This era is probably a close second to what Giants fans dealt with from the early 60's through the late 70s
Jones isn’t horrible. He can win us some games but he really doesn’t elevate us in most
Throw somewhat consistent running game and oline that’s nfl level and jones probably a middle of the road guy. I don’t think he would really elevate us to consistent playoff contender He isn’t the biggest issue on team but if you have a chance to elevate qb position, u have to. I wouldn’t give him 5th yr, not at 20 million plus
Many more "prove it" years ahead...
There are a lot of long books that aren’t very good.
Here are some real numbers to reflect on: 5,4,6,4.
19-45.

He tried. It didn't work out.
Did he really try?
Yes, he tried. He failed. The fact that most of his draft choices and free agent signings weren't any good doesn't mean he didn't try. It means he stunk at it.
I think this confirms ==> troll.
There might be 5 players on this roster who will still be on the team in three years.

It would have been very difficult to keep either Landry or Lombardi, impossible to retain both. Timing was just not right. IIRC, Giants would have had to fire it's successful head coach Jim Lee Howell to keep either one of them. They both left in 1959. Howell retired after 1960 season.
As far as Tarkenton, imo, Wellington Mara made a huge mistake in trading for Tarkenton in the first place. And Tarkenton became such a pain-in-the-ass prima donna that he essentially forced a trade back to the Vikings.
Huff is another story. The infamous trade after the 1963 season contributed to the collapse of the team in 1964 which marked the end of the Glory Years and the beginning of the awful era that only ended after Pete Rozell's intervention and the hiring of George Young.

WHY because I am real Giants fan? I support the team and I support the Mara family. They’ve given me 4 Super Bowls.

It has to be Tim McDonnell, he played WR at Holy Cross...the Crusaders.
So lame.
Tim if you're reading this - you all suck at your jobs, and the best thing for the Giants would be for your family to sell the team.

Mass exodus if that happens.
What a clown.
Despite Gettleman being here for a good chunk of his career where a pass rush is essential to the Giants success, that part apparently slipped his mind.
I am of the philosophy that if one player fails, he is a bust. If everyone on a team fails, it is with the coaches.
Good players at all secondary positions plus depth. Three good DL. Two good LBs. Two good OL (Thomas and Gates).
This twerp dies my even understand WHAT constitutes a HoF career. Humoring him for a second, Jones and Barkley have ALREADY put up a body of work that would be impossible to overcome. Tomas needed to be dominant from day 1 ( like Q. Nelson has been.). The very definition of “Troll”.
How many are still in the NFL? There was only one player from the 2016 roster on the 2021 roster. It does not matter what you think of the quality of players on the current roster, the reality of the modern NFL is that most of the Giants players will be gone by 2023 and very few will still be in the NFL by 2026. DG will be judged by the performance of the teams during his time as GM.
Good riddance to him and his crew soon enough.
During the beginning of one of those away games Parcells told Phil Simms they hate us so much here, that they like us.
I'm bringing this up because if you watch a game in Washington now the stadium even early in the season is 1/3 empty. Washington is 31st average capacity (65%).
Back in the 80's it was at least as difficult to get tickets to a Washington game as it was to get tickets to a Giants game. Now at least a 1/3 of the stadium is empty at every home game. The Washington fans hate the owner, they hate the new stadium and the team has been a loser for years.
In 2021 the Giants are at 90% of capacity which is 26th in the NFL. If you would have bet someone over the age of 50 that the Giants would only fill 90% of their Stadium you could have taken a lot of their money. The Giant fans hate the owner, they hate the new stadium and the team has been a loser for years.
IMO Mara/Tisch better be careful, they'll still keep collecting the TV money but they are a lot closer to 75% capacity than 100% especially if they think the season ticket holders won't stop paying for their tickets because they bought PSL's and keep Judge, Jones and promote Abrams. IMO that's going to prove to be a costly mistake.

JFC. This has got to be a fake account, right?
And, again, for those too young to remember, the Redskins' OL were so powerful and rock solid (Russ Grimm, Joe Jacoby, Mark May, Jeff Bostic and George Starke)--they were called 'the Hogs' because of brute force and getting low in the dirt to move the DL. Epic.
Where do you think Gettleman came up with Hog Mollies? Only half of that was original to him. Too bad he failed epically on re-creating that line.
By the way, arnie, significant part of drop-off in WFT attendance is that, much like MetLife Stadium, FedEx Field is a drab, way beyond its prime, 3rd rate venue, as soon as it was built.
