I hate it when people in the media constantly say, “well, they played hard for their coach” .. maybe they just played hard because they are prideful guys, who refuse to quit or half-ass it?

This in reaction to the announcers tonight saying "despite the loss, they played hard for their coach", who is most likely leaving Denver. Someone in the comments mentioned they may have played for their contracts for next year.

That's not to say players won't tune coaches out, and some might mail it in at the end of a season gone sideways, but the overwhelming majority are professionals who want to compete.

Players play hard because they didn't get to that level without being ultra competitive. Most want the respect of the rest of the players in the league just as much as they want another contract.
If you didn't then how can you sit here and claim it's bullshit?
