Pickett’s emergence

Giants73 : 1/8/2022 10:32 pm
Jordan Addison looks like a really good WR coming out of college. Watched Pickett play over his time at Pitt and he has always been underwhelming.

The emergence of Addison, I think his the difference with looking at what he has done this year. Addison should definitely look to be a pick in 2023, don’t think he is eligible yet.
We need a QB in the 2023 draft.

He is okay but in a good draft he would be a second pick at best
You know who else was medicore until his last season…

Joe Burrow. Maybe he was held back by a terrible Pitt team?
Pickett

Is a natural QB with good feet, good balance, quick decision making and a live arm. He can make plays with his feet and ba and makes things happen. He's a natural at QB, not a robot like Jones.

That's what I see too. Loose, confident.

What about the undersized hands? How's that gonna workout in rain and cold? Everyone bitched about Jones fumbling.

Pickett for me. Just don't see it at all. Corral, who let's not forget does it week in and week out in the SEC, is a much better prospect IMO.
How’s Picketts fumbles

This year?
We are going to learn a lot more about Pickett at the Senior Bowl
Rick in Dallas : 1/9/2022 6:17 am : link
in a week of practices going up against Willis,Ridder,Strong and Zappe.
It will be the first time NFL coaches get a chance to see him close up.

Burrow’s second to last season dwarfed anything Pickett had prior to this year. That was despite not playing anything but mop up duty the two prior years at Ohio State. For four years Pickett produced Daniel Jones numbers.

I don’t see the decision making. I see a QB who is far more experienced in his system than any of his opponents are in theirs because of Covid and taking advantage of that. The Senior Bowl will be very telling in that respect. In the NFL the experience factor goes out the window.
I don't see Pickett at all

He was hyped to start the year and underwhelmed when I watched.

Bill Parcells vehemently disagrees with this. Experience was one of his top prerequisites for QB prospects

Experience matters in the sense that you have been through more scenarios, but Pickett had 4 years where his numbers were equivalent to Daniel Jones. He suddenly has a stellar 5th year and we should ignore the rest? I am not sure that that would make him highly ranked by Parcells.

If you put a gun to my head and told me I had to take QB from this class it would be Pickett.

However, I think drafting him would be an epic disaster from the franchise. Pickett would be ranked in the teens if I had a big board, none of these QBs would be good enough to overcome our Oline issues.

It would just be more of the same we see from Jones because we simply can not block, there are some good oline men in this draft and ranking a QB over fixing the line would be terrible.

Trade Barkley - I would like a pick this year but almost more importantly I would look for a conditional higher pick next year.
Draft lineman and Linebackers
Let it ride with Jones for a year

If I am going to waste a pick this year on a QB I would rather sacrifice a 3rd if there is a QB that falls because these QBs are not that far off from each other and I would be ok with drafting QB the intention that they could be our backup QB of the future on the cheap instead of paying a never was for millions.

I am not risking a high value pick in this class when the Oline desperately needs addressed.

The idea that people are worried that DJ might do well enough to make our team good enough to ruin our draft status is silly logic. If the team gets better because it means we fixed our line that is a good thing.

Random QB class question, where do you think Carson Strong gets drafted this year? I kind of like his value/potential.

I think workouts will be important for Strong. He looked awfully heavy legged at Nevada. Not many QB’s can succeed today being a statue in the pocket.

I agree with everything you wrote. Trade Barkley build the O Line and ride with Jones one more year.

Agreed. I don’t see any comparison between the 2, it’s just lazy. While there were questions on Burrow going into his senior year, he always had a big arm and was fearless. I don’t see it with Pickett, I see a slightly above average arm.
