Bama team either. Shows yet again how good of a coach Saban is that they got to this point regardless.
I was at Florida-Bama in Gainesville and they were outplayed in that game badly from the 2nd-4th quarter. They got out to a huge lead in the 1st which is the only thing that saved them that day, Florida was absolutely destroying them on the line in the 2h
just too much for even Bama to overcome against this Georgia defense.
Would have liked to see this game with Williams healthy entire way. UGA may have still won but we may have seen OT.
I hope Williams has a minor strain. He was walking pretty well when he came back out.
It would have been a much harder for GA to win with Williams in the game.
Really stepped up in the 4th. Mook nailed it. Just not enough on the outside and this Georgia front is huge and fast so no real running game for Bama to overcome it.
Young Bama team so they’ll be back. Again.
Nice story for the Georgia QB. Great inspiration to the young kids having a dream.
if I've ever seen a player look so lost for the first like 50 minutes of a game and then regroup in a title game. He had that deer int he headlights look and it was getting worse, and then he somehow got it together.
Awesome job by him. I know I wasn't alone thinking he was cooked in that game

No, a bunch of us stuck a fork in his back. Maybe that is what the GA coaches saw in him....
41 points allowed vs. Bryce Young in the SEC Championship defeat. In the other 14 games:
18 vs. Alabama (national championship)
17 vs. Tennessee
13 vs. Kentucky
13 vs. South Carolina
11 vs. Michigan (CFP semifinal)
10 vs. Auburn
7 vs. Florida
7 vs. Charleston Southern (backups playing)
7 vs. UAB (backups playing)
6 vs. Missouri
3 vs. Clemson (defense scored only TD in a 10-3 win)
Shutouts vs. Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt and Arkansas
153 points allowed in 15 games, and 41 of them were in 1 game
Bama's young receivers looked scared and made no plays while O'Brien didnt seem to have a plan after the injury. You are already across midfield, why throw three long passes to receivers that clearly arent going to make a play?

Yeah I actually credit Bama for hanging in there as long as they did with no Metchie and no Williams. Then once Georgia went up by 8 it was just too steep a hill to climb for Young against one of the greatest D’s of all time with a bunch of young inexperienced WRs.
Young threw some real dimes under pressure tonight and a number of them were flat out dropped by those young guys. Young is going to be an ultra elite QB in the NFL I believe.
Great job by Georgia— that was awesome to watch. And great resolve by Bennet— he looked LOCKED IN after that turnover. What a drive and TD throw on that next drive.
Herbstreit said it after the game— you can talk about scheme adjustments all you want, the differences between the SECCG and this game was the Georgia D flat out played ANGRY tonight. Especially that front 7 at the LOS.
I think it’s clear the SECCG was simply a game Bama needed more and maybe Georgia was also a bit overconfident. I really think the former had a major impact on the game especially. But don’t get it twisted: this defense was historically talented and the team in general was loaded as hell, so once they ate that humble pie and suddenly had a chip on their shoulder, in those 37 days following they went from a great team that had simply laid an egg to a super great team. The fact their conditioning was questioned by so many ultimately led to them being by far the best conditioned team out there tonight— they absolutely dominated the last 11 min of the game.
But again— even having said that, I give Saban and Bryce Young a hell of a lot of credit for hanging tight the entire game with no Metchie and no Williams at their disposal. I know this wasn’t his best game, but all things considered Bryce Young is honestly one of those guys who looks like Neo in the Matrix out there the way sees the field and the way he makes putting the ball in the exact right spot with great timing look so simple. I really believe he’s going to be a top 5 QB in the NFL for a long time when he comes out, which is really saying something with all the young talent at QB coming up in the NFL right now.
Bennett looked totally lost but has been able to get it back on track. Good for him, I'm totally stunned he did because he looked that lost, but props to him.
Same here lol. Sometime late in the 2nd quarter I was just like “Jesus Bennett just sucks.” I picked Georgia to win but at that moment i truly felt like I truly understood what Booger Macfarland meant when he said there’s no way Georgia is winning a national championship with Stetson Bennett at QB. He looked lost and just incapable of making the big plays needed. Everyone talked about how his nemesis has always been the inexplicable turnovers at crucial times and low and behold we saw that. You could see in the Georgia fans’ eyes: they thought they were cooked once Bama went up by more than a field goal in the 4th. And historically in these big losses for Georgia it has always been one bad play, one call, one turnover that just snowballs and leads to heartbreaking losses. I think ever Georgia fan in that building felt that’s what was happening at that moment.
And then what happened? Bennett and the OC totally flipped the script. Bennett suddenly looked determined and confident and the OC was calling pass after pass like he had Aaron Rodgers down there. And low and behold Bennett was literally perfect from there on out. I don’t think he threw a single incomplete pass after that turnover (other than the pass interference play). I think after the turnover he was something like 6/6 for 80 yards and a TD. Absolutely unbelievable how Georgia followed that turnover-turned-TD by Bama with an absolutely avalanche: 3 TDs in the next 8 minutes. Crazy.
from these Georgia and Bama teams in the front 7. For all the back to front defensive building we hear this staff talk about it was Georgia's front 7 that won this game imo. Once Williams went down Bama needed to be able to grind it out on the ground and they could not.
Saban knew he had a young team and that he was light in the running game most of the year. Wait till you see Young when they correct that issue next year. He's a little small but his poise is very advanced being under so much pressure. Kirby has been knocking on the door and this was just one of those great defensive teams you do not see often with a bully Oline.
Georgia kept sending guys to harass/hit Young since his top WRs were no longer an issue and they could play more man coverage. They didn't always sack him but he took plenty of hits releasing the ball. To his credit, Young showed good poise and great accuracy...his guys dropped a few balls and had to punt or kick FGs a few more times than they wanted.
Bennett was getting harassed as well and taking too long to read and release the ball in first few quarters. After his pass/fumble, he pulled himself together and started getting the ball out quicker...and it led to those big late scores. Bama started looking tired on defensive front as well and Dawgs found some running space. The TE screen score to super freshman Bowers was the big blow as Bennett just barely got the throw out and over the Bama defender.
Good college season, great final game, and well-deserved Champion Georgia Bulldog team.
I'm sure Young will take flack for the picks as he should

Not taking anything away from UGA, but the game changed with the Williams injury. Bama still made some plays afterwards, but they didn’t look remotely comfortable. I’ll give Bennett a lot of credit . He looked overmatched early, but was able to make the plays to help them win the game.
Lot of really talented players on both teams. Anderson was a beast.
Not nearly as big of an impact on the ability to tie...

Me too.
Would have taken some balls to do so but the Bama d-line was totally gassed and they would have had it from the 1.5 yard line.
Brooks not putting both hands out to catch it what the fucking fuck was that. That should have been a TD
Well, that settles that.
Well, that settles that.
Everybody wants to be Odell Beckham....
Would have liked to see this game with Williams healthy entire way. UGA may have still won but we may have seen OT.
I agree.
Great emotion from the kid.

Georgia's defense in 2021 is the best defense we've seen in college football in a decade
Awesome job by him. I know I wasn't alone thinking he was cooked in that game

Oh, no. Was hoping only a strain or MCL. Good bye early 1st round pick.
