SNY @SNYtv "Judge also wants to have a hand in the GM search, according to a source, which might be an even tougher sell to the Giants owners" Sources on where the Giants stand with Joe Judge, who still has his job - for now (via @RVacchianoSN |
Why not give the biggest anchor in your organization the keys and let him drive for a while?
- Culture
- Player Eyes
- Not fighting on the sidelines
You know, all the important stuff
I don’t think recent actions indicate Judge knows when to shut his mouth.
I was wrong.
Jay Glazer yesterday.
Ralph V today. With the comment that "a source confirmed",which is an acknowledgement that the story was already out there.
If Judge is lobbying for Abrams, hard to deny that he wants a say as to whom the GM should be. And believes himself entitled.
Judge has really taken a wrecking ball to himself.
Asking and getting are two completely different things.
Whoever doesn't raise their hand should be "invited to the next round" which is a trip out of a self locking door by the dumpster.
Yeah, by suggesting the stooge everyone knows Mara wants to put in the position.

Somr people have more self awareness than others. A head coach that's 10-23 and already enjoyed the full unflaggin support of the organization in all areas from coaching staff to players feeling like he deserves a role to help pick a GM?
No one is convinced, not even management at this point, that Judge knows his job. Him.feeling like he deserves more strikes me as wild.

He's not angling for a say in GM. He's saying what Mara wants to hear, because he knows Mara wants Abrams anyway. And Judge knows Abrams would then recommend Judge get another year.
If you want me here, let me be involved in the search.
If you don’t want me to have a say, and you don’t believe in me, get rid of me.
Like what Terps said - if you keep Judge, clean slate and give him more time, not a lame duck season.
I would “mutually part ways” and start over.
I’m not arguing that ownership should have Judge’s POV, just that I understand it.
I’m not saying Judge is Bill B, but remember that Bill B’s career in Cleveland was a short lived mess, and the Browns fans sounded a lot like Giants fans today.
Asking and getting are two completely different things.
Judge reportedly wants a say, not a hand. I hear that to mean he wants to be in the argument, as if he's earned the equity to make that request.
The more reasonable approach for him, IMV, is to realize he's embarrassed himself and the franchise the second half of the season. And, upon some reflection, he has a plan to change his approach as a communicator, coach, and stategist.
The thing is, he can tell them that he wasn't given winning-caliber talent and he'd be absolutely correct about that. He could insist that his in-game decisions would have been entirely different with an NFL-caliber roster.
My guess is Mara wants to believe him, and so he will.
I agree. He hasn't done shit to earn that right.
Or imagine Will Hernandez insisting he should have a part in choosing the OL coach.
:-)
The problem is that ownership doesn't have full confidence in him.
No coach should have a say in who their boss is. Only a flawed structure would let a subordinate pick his boss...but welcome to Giants football.
there must be something in the building (company culture) that is giving these guys the attitude of entitlement. it is normal to want to be involved in the interview process for your new superior, but given the shit show Judge has presided over he should know to just shut up.
yet another reason to bring in a new GM to clean house.
That was 30-40 years ago. Different world now.

Even in today's NFL you have to have some success as a head coach to get the right to select a general manager

Not so different that there's precedent for a guy with nothing accomplished to be able to do this.
Just keep your mouth shut - or "you remove all doubt".
