Thoughts on Judge Delay

PhilD : 1/11/2022 9:51 am
I think it is a good idea. Let judge give you his analysis of what needs to be done. His plan for fixes. His evaluation of personnel. Take advantage of what he knows. This will be useful information for the next GM and HC to look at as part of their evaluation.

In a way where you take everything Judge says and do the complete opposite?

This is nonsense. There is nothing valuable that Judge brings to the table anymore. Just get him out of here.
Never heard of him

Yeah I’m in this camp. I’m not sure what Judge can add at this point.
PhilD with the right sentiment.

Done properly and with no pointing of fingers, postmortems can extract a good amount of information, help eliminate making same mistakes and shorten time frame for future success.

Or I guess they can just read BBI...

:-)

I actually do not think

there is a delay. I think the Giants themselves have decided that he is a candidate for HC if the new GM wants him and if not he is done. What may be happening is the Giants are giving Judge the opportunity to leave on his own- ie maybe find a College he wants to go to or seek other opportunities elsewhere (back with Pats, Alabama etc.)..

I think the writing is on the wall. Judge is gone unless a GM coming in wants him, which is unlikely.

It's so unlikely that they should just go ahead and fire him.

Does anyone really think there is one GM candidate who's going to want Judge as his HC (apart from Abrams)? Even if all the HC positions that are now open and the top 5 candidates are all taken, I still can't imagine any potential GM does not have at least 3 people in mind they would rather have than a guy with a 10-23 record, who can't manage a game to save his life, embarrasses himself in press conferences, sneaks on 2nd and 3rd and 9, consistently plays not to lose?

Exactly.
I am approaching this from the opposite view of the Giants

It seems they want to consider GMs that would possibly want to keep Judge. (Hence why Dodds wasn’t on the list as we heard prior).

I would eliminate any GM that wanted to keep Judge. Not sure how anyone can watch the disaster of this past season and think going forward with Judge makes sense. Yes, there were injury and personnel issues…however, Judge made many obvious clock management, challenge, post-game press conference mistakes on his own. Coupled with the fact that you can’t even point to some amazing X’s and O’s Ingenuity as a reason to keep him. Mike Martz was a jerk, but at least he was innovative.

I don't get it either. It's not like we've been blessed for two years by this coaching protégé. Judge is legitimately the worst HC in the NFL.

It's an easy decision that should have been made once the game ended Sunday. It's addition by subtraction.
Pat Traina made a fantastic point on her pod this morning

Here's one big issue with keeping Judge around -- we know for a fact that the offensive side of the ball needs to be completely re-thought as far as coaching is concerned.

How likely are you to attract the best possible offensive coordinator / position coach candidates if there is a perception that Judge is on his last legs and could very easily be gone in a year?

Not the kind of stable situation up-and-coming top talent offensive coaches will be looking for at a key career juncture.
