Ian O'Connor: Impression is Schoen is the one to beat for GM

BeckShepEli : 1/11/2022 10:06 am
"In talking to someone close to the Giants GM process a couple weeks ago, got the impression Joe Schoen might be the one to beat. The Bills exec was the first person mentioned at the time by the source among Giants targets & the first ID'd yesterday as an interview candidate."

Schoen checks a lot of boxes from my perspective

If he can put together a credible sounding rebuild plan that has enough pieces to it that will upset the status quo (like shedding certain assets for more picks/cap space), then he should go to the top of the list...

Seems like the name most of BBI wants....so maybe the site gets back to being a fan site vs....the constant whining site it has become....

I like Buffalo's team make-up....but what exactly have they won? Have they even won a playoff game?

You must've been in a coma last post-season.

I’ll be happy when Jones is succeeding elsewhere. I’d actually prefer that he goes to to the Eagles and torments us.

How the hell can someone be this attached to Daniel Jones?

And when that doesn't happen, how will you feel?

Is this Daniel's Mom?

Schoen in Yiddish means beautiful

Same thing in German.

As in, "German is definitely not a schoen language."

Suffice it to say, if that happens, we chose the wrong GM.

My hope is Schoen knows what a real franchise QB looks like - since he's been around the great Josh Allen - and sends Jones to another team.

Anally.
What could Jones have possibly done to inspire such devotion?

It's beyond weird.

People just say things because they know it'll get an angry reaction. It's a weird psychological thing.

It's not necessarily what Jones has done, it's what does Jones not being the QB of the future mean? The Giants near term future doesn't look as good if Jones isn't a keystone piece, so some posters have convinced themselves he is to hold on to some hope of the arrow is pointing up

He's not even particularly interesting. It's like deciding to devote yourself to a turkey & mayo sandwich on white bread.

Maybe a bit of everyman fandom. "If jones can be a pro QB, it means I could've gone pro if I stuck with it in high school"
