1. Jags - Neal
2. Lions - Hutchinson
3. Texans - Cross
4. Jets - Thiboduex
5. Giants -
Then let's say:
6. Carolina - Pickett
7. Giants -
I think I go Hamilton, Stingley which would unpopular (need to fix the lines!). I would have gone Hamilton, Williams before the injury last night.
No trading down.
Close third to Hamilton
Ekwonu might be the best lineman in the draft and also has more position flexibility than Cross and Neal
This. Assuming he can play RT.
Ikem is going to be a dominant guard in the NFL and can play tackle too.
Karlaftis is a grown man that can get after the QB and stop the run equally well.
These would be two phenomenal picks. Karlaftis is compared to a Justin Smith type (Bengals a few years back) just a glass eating, wrecking ball on D.
He’ll pair up nicely with Ojulari
Same
I think they'd look at one of the defensive standouts at 7. Maybe Dean, Lloyd at LB?
RB/WR/DB's are luxury picks once you have a foundation set. It has nothing to do with BPA...and every thing to do with picking the biggest impact player at a valued position in todays NFL.
Yeah, I think I could be talked out of Stingley but not Hamilton.
I'm curious to see how Karlaftis tests. If he proves he's a great athlete then he's in the conversation at 5, I just worry he's a bit too slow.
At 5- I'd take Cross or Karlaftis.
At 7 - I'd take Karlaftis or Ekwonu
I am taking Karlaftis whether it be 5 or 7.
Assuming that these three are close in value to the others.
#3 OT whoever falls
Hamilton
Linderman (sp)
I would only take Hamilton if I thought the OL depth was good enough to get starters in rounds 2 and 3 (2 picks).
I think I'd go Hamilton and then Linderbaum. (in this case, giving Hamilton the nod over Stingley because I view them as similar in value, and I think it makes a lot of sense to let Peppers walk)
I'm a believer that interior OL should generally be avoided in the premium picks, but nothing can get better for this team until the OL does, and the cap simply isn't going to allow them do make big changes via FA.
I think he's an elite enough prospect at his position that it wouldn't be an egregious need pick.
I'd consider Ojabo and Dean, but trading down would be ideal. The Pitt QB I'd give a long look at.
Yeah, it's hard to project front 7 guys because we don't know who the coach will be and what base D we'll be playing. Karlaftis looks like a great fit as a DE in a 4-3, but not as a 3-4 ER.
Stay put Hamilton and Karlaftits
Trade 5 Karlaftits and Ekwonu
Trade 7 Hamilton and Green
Karlaftis and Ekwonu go a long way towards changing the way we play up front on O and D. Nasty and Physical.
Im looking at a new regime in Minnesota targeting a QB.
I doubt it would happen with us but Philly coming up for Hamilton is something to watch for.
Keep one of them and grab highest impact player you can (thinking Edge or OLB but will see how things shape up in next few months). And then trade down in Rd 1 with the other pick and hopefully one of the top OL are still in your highest tier. Use the picks you get in trade to fill in everywhere and anywhere, or help get a QB in 2023.
championship...
7. Ekwonu, excellent and versatile OL piece who is much needed and can fit anywhere on the 4 open positions along the OL.
I really like both Dean and Lloyd, and think both are going to be amazing players in the NFL, would love either of them but 7 seems a little high.
OL system and front 7 Defense(edge) is my leanings.....but need to know what will team run....3-4, 4-3....zone or gap blocking

Stingley
Get a chance to take elite players you take them. I'm a little concerned of Stingley's injuries but if he checks out at combine take him.
There should be good o-linemen available later
Nicholas Petit Frere Ohio State
Bernhard Raimann Central Michigan
Abraham Lucas Washington St
Darian Kinnard Kentucky
Sean Rhyan UCLA
Jaxson Kirkland Washington
Ed Ingram Louisiana State
Jamaree Salyer Georgia
Our two last Super Bowl seasons had
2011 - 31st ranked O-line by Pff
2007 - 3rd ranked O-line composed of draft picks of a
LT David Diehl: fifth round
LG Rich Seubert: undrafted free agent
C Shaun O'Hara: undrafted free agent
RG: Chris Snee: second round
RT Kareem McKenzie: Round 3
Hamilton paired with McKinney would be a nightmare for opposing QBs. Both guys cover a lot of ground in a hurry back there.
This s the correct answer.
Stingley

SO what you're saying is that when the Giants have an experienced "Eli Manning," then there should be no problem with having to draft that many OL and draft them early, right?
I would also come back in round 2 with Christian Harris Bama LB.
Round 3 I would look to add at least 1 IOL.
Drafting at least 3 OL with the 9 picks seems like a smart investment if the value lines up.
Then trade out of the slot and accrue more picks to spend on OL, WR, maybe QB. The offense is a complete emergency on this team and beefing up the offense is the fastest route to respectability.
But I think sometimes the quantity argument makes sense, especially if it is 1st and 2nd rounders.
High draft picks whiff too, after all.
Yep. The Giants need high end talent, period, at almost any position. You have maybe three guys who could potentially be among the top 5 at their positions - Thomas, McKinney, and Williams, and Williams. That's it. No position on the roster could be considered loaded with talent.
But the more I think about it my dream scenario is Hamilton.
Then trading down into the teens and getting a first rounder next year and take an OL.

A little confused by the question but I think that 2011 team shows that with a good quarterback and good skills positions (Manningham, Nicks, Cruz) - you can overcome a poor offensive line. This is what PFF had to say at the time
2011 Giant Offensive Line – Rank 31 (PFF)
Run Rank 24th, Pass Rank 32nd, Penalties Rank 7th
Yes, they won the Super Bowl, but they did so in spite of a line that sieved pressure throughout the year. Our lowest-ranked pass protecting line had problems all over, but nowhere as bad as at the tackle positions (especially once Will Beatty was lost for the year). It wasn’t just the tackles however, with every member of the Giants' line earning a negative grade. This explains the drop-off in the run game and makes the season that Eli Manning had all the more remarkable.
I agree, what I saw was not awe inspiring. Big guy, strong, not fast, but relentless. More of a 4-3 DE type, imv.
Lotta folks want to go OL and obviously the need is there but some of the experts here don't seem to feel the value lines up. If we end up with a new coach it could very well be a QB and I'd be good rolling the dice with Pickett but less enthusiastic about Corral.
The only guy I really don't want is Karlaftis. I just don't see it there. Personally I don't feel like any of the top edge players match up to the top prospects in recent drafts, but especially Karlaftis.
