Raanan update on Judge:

BeckShepEli : 1/11/2022 1:09 pm
“ Still more meetings expected between Joe Judge + ownership later today or tomorrow. Everything remains in limbo. Outside GM candidates are under impression the coach is not set in stone. So seems as if ownership will listen before deciding ultimate direction of organization.”

Judge - ( New Window )

I guess we are just going to ignore virtually every report that says the Giants will let the GM decide Judge's fate.
I'm not going to overreact
Sammo85 : 1/11/2022 1:18 pm : link
At a minimum, they are making Judge sweat, which may be intentional based on his behavior the last month or so and as owners they deserve to have a conversation and ask hard questions for what they are paying.

Worst comes to worst, they get answers in depth on whether there's a future with him and some generality for themselves on what's gone on this season that they can't have repeated with another candidate.
Geez these guys get paid to throw out
DC Gmen Fan : 1/11/2022 1:19 pm : link
obvious sh*t anyone of us could have said.

It sounds like it's at least a possibility that they could be telling GM candidates that they (the candidates) will have the final say on Judge.
He’s still under contract for now
eric2425ny : 1/11/2022 1:19 pm : link
and they won’t be selecting a new coach until the GM is hired. I’m guessing that head coach is going to come from one of the playoff teams.

In the meantime they can have Judge earn his salary by deep cleaning the MetLife urinals.
It's like saying
DC Gmen Fan : 1/11/2022 1:20 pm : link
Giants are still 50/50 on whether to keep judge or not and potential GMs are waiting to see"

Well no shit sherlock.

I don't think thats quite right. It sounds like the GM chosen will have a big say and they will probably weigh in all the feedback they receive.

One can hope anyway.
Incompetent

And indecisive. Not a good combo
Maybe Joe Judge has gotten Mara
JohnB : 1/11/2022 1:52 pm : link
To let him pitch his candidacy to the new GM instead of being outright fired by Mara.

A possibility
LOL
UConn4523 : 1/11/2022 1:55 pm : link
these updates are great. Whichever way the wind blows, these are the stories of BBI.
What
Les in TO : 1/11/2022 1:55 pm : link
Are the chances a new GM is going to want to keep Judge relative to the universe of alternatives? Ownership should fire Judge and give the new GM a blank canvass, turning over the keys and staying very far away from anything to do with the on field part of the business.
Forget the Judge updates...

where are we with the Anthony Davis signing?
more meetings.....more meetings

just fire his ass and let's move on.

Is a very accurate description of the crappy state of this franchise.

Very plausible. And you can only imagine the 200+ page PowerPoint presentation The Fillibuster has to show off his football acumen. Littered with supporting quotes from BB, Saban, McDaniel, etc.

There was a report, maybe a Mara quote, that John Mara reserves the final say for himself. The new GM will have a strong say.

I am in favor of such an approach, but it does have a downside. I want the new GM to be heavily involved. However, by the time a new GM is identified, other teams will have been doing their HC search for a week, or two. It may lend weight to keeping Judge if the preferred alternatives have gone elsewhere. The only way around this is to fire Judge now and let the Maras search for a replacement. While most all of us want Judge out, most all of us don't want the second part.

Or this. *grin*

The owner having the final say
Peter from NH (formerly CT) : 1/11/2022 2:10 pm : link
actually reduces the burden on the GM. The GM doesn't have to be the heavy, if they let him go. The GM can try and make the best decision without worrying about the politics of it since it ultimately resides in the owners hands.

I've been on this track too. The problem with this though is that it's not clean, you're introducing variables that make it difficult for a GM to get his best HC option in there Year 1. There's the element of telling your future employer what they want to hear during interviews and your future employer handing you a free year removed from the crosshairs. What could be in the GMs best interest isn't necessarily going to align with what's best for the Giants. Firing Judge yesterday and letting the GM pick his guy from the available pool of candidates would have been better. However, I'll take this over Mara playing matchmaker any idea, so it could be worse.
A new GM will probably interview Judge
gtt350 : 1/11/2022 2:58 pm : link
and will have no problem passing on him if he wants to go in a different direction.
As someone who paid his dues in Corporate America, anytime a new CEO came aboard, 3 times in my career, they didn't give a fuck, it was there way or the highway.
Believe me everyone snapped to attention
It's all such a shame
bluetothegrave : 1/11/2022 3:07 pm : link
I've been here for a while. Every thread usually has many Giant fans like me that care so much. We use common sense and our passion and give opinions. Unfortunately none of it matters because the Mara's are in charge.

If you were the bosses and you had an employee who was as bad at his job as Joe Judge is would you keep him on? A coach who can't manage any game situation and a coach that gives up with QB sneaks from his own 4 yardline. A coach who tries to talk tough out of every situation. He is an abject failure he is in way way way over his head. He only loses games for us. Yet they keep this bozo on and have these meaningless ridiculous meetings. Its all so pathetic. Why would you need a meeting. The guy has been in your building every day for 2 years. You've seen every play of every game and you still think you need meetings?

Its all so the wealthy and supposedly powerful can still feel that way. Joe Judge is good at covering for the mistakes of his bosses, that to them is loyalty and all they care about. I guaranty we fuck this up, as well as the draft.

Owners have asked Judge who he could work with
Simms11 : 1/11/2022 3:12 pm : link
as they want them both on the same page philosophically, but the recommendation to keep Judge will come from the GM ultimately. Owners will make final decision on him however. This is where, I believe, owners will have to show support to the incoming GM. It will come down to him making that all important decision on Judge.

Except the new GM isn't the CEO- thats John Mara. He needs to sack up and fire this coach and give his new GM a clean deck.
There is a HUGE difference between let the new GM decide whether
arniefez : 1/11/2022 3:26 pm : link
or not to keep Judge by saying we have left the coach in place for now, it will be up to you to decide if you want to go forward with him and saying to GM candidates do you think you can work with Judge that is what we prefer.

It will not be difficult once the process is over to know which way that was presented. Just like it wasn't difficult to know why Gettleman and Shumur were hired 2018.

But as the Giants "CEO" he can give the keys over to the new GM to make all football decisions and not intervene
