Some of you may not like this comment. I don’t love Jones, and I don’t think he has top 10 potential in his career. A friend of mine who is on here and I have talked about this often. I think he will end up being similar to Alex Smith if he can remain healthy the rest of his career. I strongly believe IF he is healthy enough to play next year, you keep him with no 5th year option and if he plays good next year, tag him. If not, let him go. They have picks 5 and 7 and 2 3rd round picks as well. They need to build the O Line. They need to sign a competent backup QB. This draft class isn’t it, and we all can be proven wrong if one of the QB becomes a very good QB, but if not Corral or Pickett, maybe Willis which I doubt? It’ll be someone unexpected and not worthy of pick 5 or 7 in my opinion. If Jones is healthy and he has a healthy, decent young OL, he has a chance to be solid. Wasting the chance to possibly take 2 stud OL maybe Neal and Cross, or Cross and Green just to take a hopefully good QB, would be a really big mistake if said QB doesn’t work out. Take a QB next year, possibly move 7 back a few spots if you can get picks next year as ammo to try and get your guy in 2023.
We need better than the 20th best QB in the league. You can't win consistently with that.

You're welcome, boss!

at Alex's peek. He has never showed great upside. Forget hi. He's not the answer.

lol, what a great pic. Are you sure it isn't Freddie Kitchens?
But in all seriousness, I don't get why everyone loves the Jones comparison. They both needed to be in the right offense to succeed absolutely but Daniel Jones has a glaring difference in that he seems to love turning the ball over. Alex Jones didn't have that burning desire. So it's not a good comp.
Do you mean Alex Smith?
Ah, the new go to excuse for Jones..."it'll be his fourth OC!" It's always, always SOME excuse for Jones. The Giants deserve something better than the Hyundai of QBs. Personally, I'd trade im, if you could get anything for him, or make him a back up and I'd go out and get a bridge QB who can do next year and into the following year as a presumed Rookie QB comes in.

If he fails to establish himself with, I expect, a much improved OL, then move on. There’s no one in the upcoming draft who’s better. But this will be his fourth offensive coordinator in four years.

It is an excuse. That’s what hampered Alex Smith.
Exactly. I don’t think he could be great, but if the neck is fine and he gets a decent OL, he has a chance to be a solid QB.
As a backup QB with a tailored and paired down play sheet he can win you some games, but he is not likely to ever be a regular starter at the NFL level.
If DJ fails to meet performance expectations in 2022, then the new GM and head coach have any easy decision to make in 2023.
in this dysfunctional offense. They did not have the least talent in the league to work with.
If Jones can return with a good OC and play caller, he can be a franchise QB.
