Garrett didn't hold anything together he held things back. You can't compare things when Jones didn't really play after he was fired and the only game he played he was hurt in.
grow up, no one owes anyone an apology and the subject most likely doesn't give a shit if you apologize or not.
I came here to say this. I don't know when this became a thing. We are people complaining about public figures on an internet message board. I don't think even Mara owes Garrett an apology, why would we? Garrett doesn't give a shit about our apology 100% lol
The shitty system he put into place over the last 2 years and his God awful play calling are what got JG fired. The offense fell apart when Jones went down and the Oline lost any/all of whatever depth they had left....and most of the receivers got injured/covid as well.
This is not to absolve Kitchens nor Judge either, but they weren't left with a lot to fight with over the last 6 games.
Honestly don’t understand how the fan base doesn’t get this
With little leeway for the variances that can hurt a team during the season. The big problem after he was let go was that Kitchens was stuck having to play call for a system he obviously did not believe in
Garrett was not awful. He was mediocre which was light years ahead of what Sheriiff JW Pepper and Joe time outs are capable of.
Jones got to take a vacation after it became obvious that it was not Garrett that was holding Jones back after the Philly game. Jones is pretty much Jones a shit QB.
The fact the rest of the team felt they got to take a vacation too has nothing to do with anything.
Yes I want to apologize to Garrett on behalf of the Giant fan base.
Coach Garrett, you were never welcome here as rival coach to the NY Giants family. You were not particularly good either . You were however the best we have had in years despite being the definition of average. I am sorry we had to kick you out and ,make you the scape goat. But you were going to have to go eventually since if we ever got better we'd suspect you of being double agent for the cowboys anyway. In any case, sorry.
Not the only reason, but it's a crime Mara forced him on JJ and then fired him for it. He was in over his head so ultimately it won't matter but it's still screwed up
For worst combined record in the NFL over the last 5 years and all some people can think about is figuring out who we need to apologize to. Stockholm syndrome at its finest.
the guy came in and ran an offense that was worst in the league and a lot worse than it was the year before he got here with practically all the same players.
he owes every Giant fan and Joe Judge an apology for his god awful performance of which not a single positive thing can be said.
but Garrett might have been the guy holding the whole operation together. Judge unraveled into insanity as soon as Garrett left.
the team unraveled into insanity when Glennon got concussed vs. Miami. From that moment forward they got the worst QB play i've ever witnessed consecutively at the NFL level. judge rightfully got fired, just as garrett rightfully got fired.
Have new plays and game plans every week. Kitchens could add what ever he wanted. Seven games is more than enough time to introduce an additional 30 plays. If Kitchens decides to stick with JG’s plays that was his decision.
poor old Joe was saddled with this guy Mara "forced" on him and FOJ Kitchens had to shelve his brilliant offense because he had to run Garret's scheme.
We are to assume Micromanager Joe, who had the coaching staff "walking on eggshells" according to reports, had absolutely no influence or say on the offense even though he named his boy Freddie "Senior Offensive Assistant".
Proof is in the pudding- Judge and the team totally fell apart after Garrett was let go. Freddie really had the Eagles on the ropes- they scored 13 points and had 270 yards of offense.
So, no apologies for Garrett, but the last redoubt has crumbled to dust.
…with an offensive system rooted in the 90s who with all of his experience could have helped a first time head coach find his way and did what, exactly of any distinction? At the very least to acknowledge John Maras loyalty. For my part, F him. Clap clap.
In hindsight Garrett was the string keeping the offense together. At least with him they were pushing 20 or so points and had a chance. Kitchens was a disaster compared to him. IMO Judge was very insecure, and used Garrett as the scapegoat firing because he knew that Garrett was a threat to his HC position.
Unpopular opinion on here likely, but nevertheless its my opinion.
Based on the reports that are trickling out now (not unexpected, the negatives always come out when someone is let go), this may be real story.
Garrett may be an average-at-best coach, but he may have been the only pro on the staff.
I think that's a good take. Everyone turned on Garrett when he couldn't polish the Daniel Jones turd enough. As you say, Garrett might be mediocre, but that seems worlds better than Judge or his friends.
RE: garrett truthing is proof there's a constituency for anything

It’s mind-boggling. Some people hate Judge (and even Jones) so much that they’ve been reduced to pretending Garrett wasn’t a complete fucking failure. You can believe those first two guys were terrible at their jobs without acting like Garrett provided any positive value during his short (yet far too long) time here.

He coached a QB who had 39 turnovers and 3 wins. If he did that when Garrett was here he would have to be benched since Jones was not a rookie any more. So it's Garrett's fault for having to make it work with some guy who is not starting NFL material? If it were Eli or Glennon they got benched within weeks 2-4 for less.( Glennon with the Bears)
Garrett did him a favor. Not saying Garrett is great. And newsflash to all of you analytics/ offensive scheme nerds ... there is the #1 seed just playing smash mouth football. Coach Verblen does not give a shit about that while the Chargers got eliminated from the playoffs. Garrett might have been average; he might have been vanilla; but guess what ; most of the NFL is running many of the same plays anyway. He was not as bad as some of you are saying he was.

Jones plays one game under the new OC (Garrett system)
Jones injured
We have Glennon and Fromm the rest of the season
How the fukk is that apples to apples?
I think his offense requires a good or at least decent OL.
grow up, no one owes anyone an apology and the subject most likely doesn't give a shit if you apologize or not.
Would it help if bdre were to, say...offer an apology?

not to me, I think this whole "do we owe an apology to..." thread theme is ridiculous, but maybe some people enjoy them
Fairest take on this topic so far.
I am starting to think Garrett's removal exposed Judge for the fraud he was because Garrett was very likely the only grown up on that staff.

I do.
Sometimes, the first response says it all.

He had a 6-4 WR and schemed nothing for him. He had a very good on the move TE and ran 5 yard stop and curl routes. He misused players repeatedly.
Yes, the OL was bad but when did he try to attack defenses. Did it seem like he was even trying to score TDs in the red zone
