it is shocking to think how much worse he was than both mcadoo and shurmur.
in addition to the bad and regressing on-field product, he shit-talked the giants previous head coach and the head coach of the team he was set to face the following week, in a game he demonstrated his penchant for gutless give-up playcalling.
i can't think of a more pathetic display of coaching in recent memory. even matt patricia was better.
But to be honest there's really nothing there. He didn't show any signs at all that he could ever be a good coach. There's nothing you can point to and say...at least he has that.
His mouth might have killed his nfl future. I do agree he got a raw deal to a large extent in what he had to work with. That happens though, esp in that business. Hes good with words and he knows it. Hes been able to talk himself into and out of whatever situation he wanted his whole life. so when his back was against the wall he went back to that well. He said more more more when he should have been saying less. Another mistake, maybe in hindsight, he was outwardly positive wrt the players, to the point it became a game of him trying to convince us the sky was purple. The OL sucked. we know they sucked. call them out, but in an appropriate way. "we need better OL play. This is not nfl OL play. It needs to be better or guys need to find another line of work." something. anything but the continual telling us things are all going according to plan. we know theyre not. its insulting. he protected the players too much when it came time to start holding these assholes publicly accountable. instead he insulted the intelligence of the fanbase. just played the whole thing terribly from a PR perspective.
Ever is a long time - after some more years on a staff somewhere
repair his reputation would be his only shot. I think insulting Ron Rivera, who I assume is highly respected in coaching circles, is something he's really going to regret. To a lesser extent the Shurmur comments were probably very short sighted as well.
I feel bad for him. He should have gone to Mississippi State
College coach. That's more his speed.
THIS
If he can one day distinguish himself as a coordinator - perhaps he'll get another shot.

I think a college will make him an offer and he will be very good there.
college HC makes sense for him
I would pull for him there
If he goes back to Belichik, he's likely an assistant for life like Weis, Crennel, Patricia, etc.
No snarky responses of comparing Judge to a legion needed. Seriously wondering what lead to the firing and what fan sentiment was at the time.
No way he gets another head job kicking around the NFL as a special teams guy or position coach.
They were all looking for other jobs. You can see a bunch of them had positions already lined up
