Seems like many would point to Joe Judge first and foremost. I do not, and that is not a defense of our former Head Coach.
IMO, the players themselves were responsible for the utter collapse because they knew they were spinning their wheels in a lost cause with Glennon and Fromm at QB. And, so, their energy dropped as imperceptible business decisions were made out on the field. Time and time again.
And there's something else about Joe Judge down the stretch run into oblivion. With the pathetic O-Line the Giants trotted out there, not even a clone of Bill Belichick and Vince Lombardi would have done shit with this team. Perhaps they would not have lost in such embarrassing fashion, but they would have lost just the same.
The new GM and Head Coach will have their work cut out for them. They will need to -- not only assess the "talent" on this team -- but also figure out who has the heart and the passion to play the game for 60 minutes over an entire season.
- 1 out of 5 offensive linemen starting level in the nfl. Think about that alone.
- 0 QBs starting level, and 1 barely a few weeks with the team w/ 0 pro starts
- 1 RB coming off major surgery set back by another injury, and a backup
- WRs that were never healthy, never good, and/or never on the field together
- A serviceable TE and an inconsistent tweener really good at neither core skill
Could a better coach have made them look better? Perhaps. But the love child of Lombardi and BB wasn’t going to make them good. Especially against good front 7s.
I’m not upset about JJ’s firing. I’m fine with it. But anyone saying that’s NFL calibre O personnel is being disingenuous.
JH do you mean some BBIers(including me) who always make te argument that the OL sucks and we shouldn't or are you saying sick of actually having a sucky OL?
With this roster we're probably 4 years from competing for the playoffs. So 2 maybe 3 head coaches from now.
This is all water under the bridge anyway. Judge is gone, and hopefully most of the players from this shitty excuse of a roster are gone soon too.

I don't know how folks can say 4 years ... when we see all over the league other teams rebounding with a few strong drafts and some smart FA signings. Sure, it COULD be 4 years, but I'm so gullible when it comes to this team that I want to believe the Giants could compete for the division in 2023 ... with the right hires and a good path.
I believe the defense usually played well in first half (save last 2 minutes) and then ran up the white flag in second half. And Kenny Golladay sure looked like he dogged it on that long pass down the right sideline from Jake Fromm. Golladay didn't really reach for the ball, and he didn't lay-out and he just looked like someone already checked out.

What if that's what trying looks like?

a few strong drafts is at least 3 drafts. .... we aren't so far apart.
