FYI, they will be opening a restaurant in Caesar's Las Vegas by the end of 2022. Never been, looking forward to the experience. Lots of great steakhouses here in Las Vegas. Doesn't hurt to have another one.
the experience of going to the original is kinda cool, but the steak, compared to places that have opened over the last 20-30 years, is nothing special. I hope you enjoy it, but don't have expectations too high

!00% correct. I've had better steaks at steakhouses in Dallas and Atlanta than at the big-name NYC joints. I think the most overrated is Keens. The steak was nothing special and the mutton was vastly overrated.
Craftsteak in Vegas was outstanding and blew away all the NYC steakhouses I have eaten at when I ate there a few years back
Sparks only had strip and filet on the menu when I was there. Going to Luger's with the bosses with the money paying for it sucks when they like steak cooked to at least medium.
Overall experience at Sparks including the lobsters/shellfish and service was great.
Luger's pushes you out the door as fast as possible, asking if you would like that wrapped to take home while you are still eating.
Cuty your boss wont let you order your steak the way you like?
steaks on one side only. I asked them what's the deal With the steak being seared on one side only. They said that's how they cook them. I told them to take back the steak and bring me another steak medium rare that is seared on both sides which they did. I have never gone back since. I've been to all the steakhouses in NYC and Vegas and they all sear both sides of the steaks. How the hell Lugers sears only one side and think that is a good steak. I'm also surprised other customers didn't complain.

They don't have a porterhouse for one. Just a possible problem that could happen there.
There is no porterhouse for one in any NY steakhouse. You just get the steak for two. If you want a single steak at Lugar's they give you the shell steak which is the best part of the porterhouse.

yup. I never understood the fascination. I found it to be ordinary, and definitely not worth going to Brooklyn when I lived in Manhattan.
What exactly was bad about your experience at Sparks?
I have been to both Sparks and Luger many times and I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal at either one.
I also like Delmonico's kitchen in the theater district, but I think it's closed (permanently?) due to COVID (?).
Though I am a ribeye fan, I prefer Sparks because they just seem so professional there and it's not that the other places aren't professional, but you just get the feeling at Sparks that every employee from the waiters, bus staff, and anyone else you come in contact with is an expert in what they do, have been doing it their whole life, and can make sure you get exactly what you ask for quickly and high quality.
Plus, I spent a lot of time working late nights walking distance from Sparks, so anytime I was feeling sorry for myself being away from home and working crazy hours, a colleague and I would walk over to Sparks, sit down, get a couple steaks a couple bottles of wine and $1000 later I'd feel a little better, lol. that matters.

true dat, buy they usually serve it medium rare and the plate is so hot you can continue to cook it to medium if you wish

It's still a top steakhouse and the steak for two is as good as any steak in the country.
